Your #MustHaves For Your ‘Clean Girl’ Makeup Look!

clean girl makeup looks

If you live in the Philippines, you know the frustrations of wanting to do a matte makeup look whenever you go out. Well, you can ‘you do you‘, but I experienced the feeling of having caked makeup due to the humid weather. Moreover, ‘glam‘ makeup isn’t really the best option in here.

I’ve been browsing my For You Page for the last few months and stumbled upon a tutorial that does the ‘clean girl‘ makeup. I saw how few products she uses on her face, and thought that I’ve got to try it because it feels much lighter, and my face tends to get oily, too.

Your #MustHaves For Your ‘Clean Girl’ Makeup Look!

In doing this look, my motto will always be: ‘less is more‘. The little the amount, the better. Plus, doing so would save you so much money — we know how expensive some products are!

If you’re looking for ideas on the products that you can use (not to mention that most of them are also cheap!), then you came to the right place. You can mostly buy them online, so rest assured that you can just order and wait for it to arrive.

1. Sunscreen

No matter where you are, always use a sunscreen! It helps protect the skin on your face from the sun’s UV rays. Aside from that, it can also serve as a makeup base.

Sunscreen is also considered to be the ‘cheapest anti-ageing product‘ due to its ability to block UVA and UVB that enables pre-mature skin aging. Furthermore, many dermatologists recommend using water-resistant sunscreens with at least SPF 30.

MuraTo | Fairy Skin Premium Brightening Sunscreen 50g

Any brand of good sunscreen will do, but I personally recommend Fairy Skin‘s Sunscreen due to its budget-friendly and lightweight formula without a white cast.

When I first started using this, I noticed that it only has a subtle fragrance which won’t smell irritating when applied to the face. It melts like water, and absorbs easily to the skin, giving the face a dewy look.

Although, there are some reviews which says that this sunscreen has given them tiny bumps — it’s important to always double-cleanse your face after a long day of using sunscreen.

2. Concealer

Some people can go on a day without using a foundation; but for a clean girl look, never skip the concealer. Using such can hide skin discolorations (which are perfectly normal!), and can also brighten the face for a fresher look.

Sace Lady | Full Cover Liquid Concealer

One cheap yet full-coverage concealer I use is the Sace Lady liquid concealer. Another thing that I like about this concealer is that it has a wand applicator. It enables me to take control of the product that I’ll put on my face, and I can keep my hand clean because it isn’t a pump concealer.

In terms of choosing the shade, I recommend choosing one that is two shades lighter than your skin tone to brighten up your face!

3. Blush

Blushing your cheeks helps in keeping your face looking healthy and alive. And the use of cream and powder blushes can help in keeping them long-lasting.

In that case, I recommend using Luna Organics’ clay blush first, then finish it with any powder blush that has a close shade to your blush!

I’ve been using this combination for a year, and it did made my blush last longer, even in a whole day. Moreover, the Luna Organics blush is in a twistable, and small container that fits in your makeup bag. You can touch-up anytime and anywhere using this blush!

4. Eyebrow Products

For a ‘clean girl’ look, you must keep your eyebrows natural-looking. You can use a brow gel first then you can fill up the gaps in between your eyebrows.

Mermaid Island Facebook Page | Browmantic Getaway shades

Although, there are many eyebrow options in the market, I personally suggest using Mermaid Island‘s Browmantic Getaway pomade. This pomade is water and sweat-proof due to its oil-based ingredients. There are also reviews which attests that this product improved their brow growth.

As someone who uses MI products, I recommend the shade: ‘Sundrenched‘, for starters. This particular shade has a balanced color of black and brown suitable for those unsure of which one they should get.

5. Mascara

You can always go right with mascara if you’re going for a natural and clean look. And opting for one that is smudge-proof may be challenging to look for. Furthermore, I’ve tried different mascaras, and they tend to smudge over time because of the sweat.

However, I recently found out about Pink Flash mascara, and I can attest that this product doesn’t smudge due to its oil-proof formula.

Joom | Pink Flash Day & Night Mascara

This mascara has two variations: the black one is the ‘day’ mascara which has a crescent-shaped wand suitable for a natural look for a day. Meanwhile, the pink variation is the ‘night’ mascara that has a straight, silica gel brush, perfect for a night look.

The two has an eyelash lengthening finish. However, if you prefer a fuller look, I suggest buying the pink variation.

6. Tinted Lip Balms

Nothing will look more clean and natural than perfectly moisturized lips. So, seeking for a tinted lip balm is one good trick to achieve that soft looking lips. Doing a lip care routine also helps in keeping them healthy: you can regularly scrub them using a toothbrush, then moisturize which prevents the lip from drying out.

There are many lip scrubs available in the market, but you can make one at home using sugar with honey or olive oil. Just leave them on the lips, then scrub to shoo away dry and dead skin. Doing so also helps to keep the lip red because it massages the surface — improving the circulation in your lips.

EBay | Nivea Care & Colour Lip Balms

After exfoliating your lips, top it off with a lip balm. I’ve used this lip balm during my college, and it never failed to keep my lips healthy and red. Therefore, I recommend using these.

Additional Tip: You can keep your lips from drying out by applying lip balm first, then your chosen lipstick if you prefer using the latter. To finish the look, you can add shine using lip oil or gloss!

7. Powder

Lastly, setting the makeup with either a translucent loose powder or a compact powder finishes the look! Since we live in a humid country, I recommend using one with oil-control properties, such as Careline Face Powder. You know the drill: make sure that you choose a shade that matches your skin tone!

Carousell | Careline Face Powder

I’ve been using this holy grail since college. You know, you still want to look presentable in a cheapest way possible. What I like about this powder is that is induced with vitamin e that helps in keeping the surface of the face firmer which keeps wrinkles and fine lines.

Another Tip: You can top off your face with a cream or liquid highlighter in the highest point of your face, including the inner corners of your eyes. This helps in keeping you face looking fresh, glowing, and healthy.

Beauty shouldn’t be expensive. You can find cosmetics that isn’t harsh on your budget, but can still provide your skin some love and care. Moreover, humidity also shouldn’t be a hindrance to improve your appearance as this can help with how you present yourself to everyone!
