GTV

Good Television, or GTV, has originally launched on Feb 22, 2021, as an all-news and public service. It has now expanded to a free-to-air television network owned and operated by the Citynet Network Marketing and Productions Inc., having GMA Network Inc. as its parent. Through dynamic and innovative progress, GTV has also persistently kept it good with 1,733,413 followers on its official Facebook page.

GMA7

GMA Network, Inc. known as Kapuso Network, is the Philippines’ leading broadcasting company that produces the most innovative, trusted, and top-rated TV programs. Based on Nielsen TV Audience Measurement from January to December 2022, GMA Network (in all its digital channels) reached 96 percent or 78 million viewers in Total Philippines. Also, GMA has constantly won numerous awards from different renowned award-giving bodies.

ALLTV

Similar to GTV, All TV, stylized as ALLTV, is a free-to-air television network owned by Villar-led Advanced Media Broadcasting System that is recently launched on September 13, 2022, based in Mandaluyong City. To reach a wider audience, it also has a partnership with CNN Philippines and Philippine Cable and Telecommunications Association (PCTA) Inc., which enables the network to be streamed to almost 300 more cable operators nationwide. Evidently, it is dedicated to bringing delight to its viewers, as proven by its motto: Sama All, Saya All sa AllTV!

TV5

TV5 Network Inc., or TV5, was originally founded as the ABC network in 1960. The said company is a Philippine broadcast network famous for its branding of being a “Kapatid” network. Owned by MediaQuest Holdings, as of 2011,  it has a total asset of approximately 8.84 billion pesos. It caters to both the news and entertainment industry, but it is well-known for its OneSports coverage. As they said, “Iba-iba man ang hanap, lahat nandito na, Kapatid”.

Net25

Net 25 is a free-to-air TV station airing on ultra-high frequency that launched in 2000 and is owned by Iglesia ni Cristo’s Eagle Broadcasting Corporation. It also shows news and current affairs programs. It also features Korean dramas, making their network even more dynamic.

A2Z

A2Z is a Philippine free-to-air block-time broadcast television network based in Quezon City owned by ZOE Broadcasting Network, in partnership with ABS-CBN Corporation as its main content provider. Initially, it launched on October 6, 2020, and has a partnership with Philippine Collective Media Corporation on September 18, 2021. Not to mention it currently has 487,000 followers on its official Facebook page.

TV Patrol

TV Patrol is a Philippine newscast from Kapamilya Channel originally premiered on March 2, 1987. The following are some of the notable 1st awards they received: 1st UPLB Gandingan Awards, 1st PMAP Makatao Awards, 1st PUP Mabini Media Awards, 1st PMPC Star Awards for Television (1987), and so on.

24 Oras

On the other hand, 24 Oras of GMA7 is a Philippine news broadcasting show that premiered on March 15, 2004. It was originally anchored by Mel Tiangco and Mike Enriquez and joined by other casters in recent times. Until now, the primetime newscast remains to be the overall number one program in the Philippines based on the recent rating reports from Nielsen NUTAM, where it garners a high score of 19.1%.

There are two nominees coming from TV5: Ted Failon at DJ Chacha sa Radyo5 and Frontline Philippines, which both premiered on October 5, 2020. Meanwhile, the former is innovative and refreshing for it aims to bridge the gap between two generations in a one-morning radio program that premiered on October 5, 2020. Frontline Philippines, at the 6:30 pm time slot, was originally anchored by Raffy Tulfo and Cheryl Cosim but was replaced by Julius Babao in 2022. Despite its recent premiere, the program already received an award (Guild of Educators, Mentors, and Students (GEMS) Hiyas ng Sining Awards).

In 2011, Net25 premiered its news broadcasting show Mata ng Agila, with 90-minute airtime starting at 6:00 pm. It was originally anchored by Ely Saludar, Weng dela Fuente, and Sam Cepeda. Lastly, Ulat ng Bayan started airing on PTV as a newscast in 2017. It is the national primetime newscast because PTV is a government-owned broadcast network. Before 2022 ended, the program acquired the Platinum Heart Media Awards.

Nominees for News Anchor of the Year

DJ Chacha started her career as a radio DJ and has proven herself as one of Pipol’s favorites as she bagged the Radio DJ of the Year award at the first-ever VP Choice Awards back in 2019. She also established herself as one of the well-known anchors on the TV5 Network, especially for Ted Failon and DJ Chacha at Radyo5. Way back in 2014 and until now, she is a grand slam winner of various award-giving bodies. Meanwhile, a famous, intelligent, and hardworking Filipino Journalist Karen Davila of TV Patrol currently has 607,000 followers on her Instagram account where she shares both personal and professional updates, not to mention she has received numerous recognitions from both local and international prestigious awards.

Gretchen Ho, a former volleyball player, is now a Filipino TV presenter currently delivering fast and relevant news for TV5’s morning news program, Frontline sa Umaga. Even though she transitioned her career from being an athlete, Gretchen Ho has been acknowledged the Yahoo Celebrity Awards 2014 and Best News Personality. Another news personnel from TV5 is Julius Babao of Frontline Philippines. He was most notable in anchoring at TV Patrol. Since then, he has not disappointed the Filipino people. He has been recognized by numerous award-giving bodies, and in 2014, he received the Outstanding Male News Presenter.

Vicky Morales, a Filipino broadcast journalist that is best known as one of the anchors of GMA Network’s 24 Oras. At the 26th PMPC Star Awards for Television, she won the Best Female Newscaster award. Another GMA talent, Atom Araullo of 24 Oras is a multidisciplinary journalist and documentarist. He has 395,000 followers on his Instagram account where he shares most of his professional photography and works. On November 30, 2022, he received another prestigious award, this time from Palanca Awards, for his ‘Letter from Tawi-Tawi‘ essay.

Another person nominated from Kapamilya Channel is Michael Delizo, ABS-CBN News Reporter. In 2018, at the first UP Science Journalism Awards, he was also honored to receive a trophy for Best Science Story for Radio. Moreover, at the 8th NSM Media Awards of the Philippine Statistics Authority, he received back-to-back awards together with “Bandila” as the Statistical Media Award for Television and Radio.

  • 20% from the deliverance of the experts’ panel
