Vice Ganda on true public servants: “[Ang] serbisyong publiko, kinakalimutan ang sarili niya.”
Vice Ganda explained how a true public servant should be selfless, at the same time pressing how those who gain tons of money during their terms should not be in office.
The comedian-host said his piece on public servants during the “Reina ng Tahanan” segment of It’s Showtime.
On Wednesday, October 13, contestant Yolanda Magat talked about her mission as a medical frontline despite not earning much from the job.
Vice told Magat,
“You are the true public servant, because a true public servant is selfless. [Ang] serbisyong publiko, kinakalimutan niya ang sarili niya dahil ‘yong pinagseserbisyohan niya muna bago siya. ‘Yon ‘yong totoong public servant.”
Vice’s co-host, Vhong Navarro, also touched on the topic of medical workers having no salaries, only allowances.
Vice agreed, adding how some public servants do not even get their allowances at all.
Furthermore, he said,
“‘Yong mga totoong public servants, hindi talaga sila yumayaman at hindi sila nagpapayaman. ‘Yong mga yumaman habang naka-upo, hindi sila totoong public servants. Ginamit lang nila ang posisyon para mabigyan nila ng sariling pag-angat ang kanilang mga pamilya, at nagpagamit din tayo sa mga iyon.”
In the past, Vice has been vocal about the corruption of government agencies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In previous episodes of It’s Showtime and on social media, he has been using his voice to disapprove of government corruption.
The Phenomenal Box Office Star has also been a helping to medical frontliners.
He has distributed medical supplies in different hospitals last March 2020.
Thank you for the wonderful points you shared, Vice! May public servants have this kind of mindset, as well.
