‘Upside Down Playlist’ — Spotify Helps You Find Music to Ward Off Vecna

One of the most standout moments during the Volume 1 of Stranger Things was when Max (Sadie Sink) managed to escape Vecna’s grasp by listening to her favorite song. Thanks to this particular scene, Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” is now back on global charts.

Stranger Things has always leaned on the relevance of classic music even in the previous seasons. Especially because it was set in the 80s. Some remarkable moments include Will’s and Jonathan’s bond over The Clash’s song, “Should I Stay or Should I Go” in the first season. And of course, the iconic duet of our very own Dustybun and Suziepoo with their rendition of Limahl’s “Never Ending Story” as they were saving the world in season three. Therefore, it is not surprising that they continue with the integration of classic songs in the series.

Spotify partners with Netflix

A lot of fans are curious about which song would keep them safe from Vecna. Some already know theirs, while others have too many songs in mind they find it hard to choose one.

Well, Spotify made it easier (or harder really) for everyone to find their Anti-Vecna song with a personally curated playlist. It was released two days before Volume 2 aired on Netflix.

The playlist contains your most played music. But there are also songs from the original soundtrack of Stranger Things to give it a more Upside Down vibe.

Since Spotify made it available days before the finale, fans theorized that some of the songs on their playlist could be an Easter Egg.

Eddie Munson is seen in the teaser for the finale playing his electric guitar. And fans think that having the “Master of Muppets” by Metallica on their playlist could be a foreshadowing of the song that Eddie would be playing in the Upside Down.

And one user has Psycho Killer by Talking Heads at the top of their playlist. A very fitting song based on its lyrics, “Run, run, run, run, run, run away.”

What is your savior song?

It cannot be denied that Stranger Things has a huge impact on pop culture. Imagine having Kate Bush’s song played in an episode made it top music charts. And because the song is not very recent, a lot of the younger fans wondered if Bush was alive to witness this milestone. Of course, she is. She even wrote a letter expressing her gratitude for the support “Running Up That Hill” is receiving.
