Roberta Tamondong’s GRAND coronation gown by Louis Pangilinan

The title of Miss Grand Philippines is something that Filipino pageant fans love to hate. With our tumultuous relationship with the Thai-based beauty pageant, winning our first golden crown has always been an uphill battle. However, things might change as our new queen is not only grand but iconic.

At just 19 years old, Roberta Angela Tamondong of San Pablo, Laguna is already set to compete in her 2nd International Pageant. After winning Miss Teen Eco International in 2020, she will try her best to hopefully snatch another win. The pressure is on for Roberta but she’s already on the right track considering her solid performance during the finals of Binibining Pilipinas 2022.

Not only did she have a commanding presence and great pasarela skills, but her gown was also definitely one of the best. There was no denying that she was a grand vision waiting to be crowned.

Designed by Louis Pangilinan, the form-fitting yellow and orange Ombre creation was inspired by the famous Philippine sunset. Furthermore, Pangilinan describes his gown as:

Inspired from the magical sunset of the Philippines or “takipsilim” that represents magic and mystery that serves as life’s completion of a cycle. Ornamentated by a whimsical arrangement of beads, crystals, and sequins that was conceptualized from the element of proceedings and sunlight that commands and manipulates a woman’s courage, possibility, and grace — just like Binibini 40 Roberta Angela Tamondong Miss.Grand Philippines 2022

Another go-to designer in pageants, Pangilinan had his fair share of having our queens wear his works for Miss Grand International. He made Samantha Panlilio’s butterfly-inspired National Costume as well as Samantha Bernardo’s emerald preliminary evening gown.

Pangilinan also created Tamondong’s winning gown for Miss Eco International. Will this magic continue? We firmly believe so!

Roberta will be flying to Bali, Indonesia in October for the Miss Grand International competition. Congratulations to you, Ro-An! We can’t wait to see you in your best and grandest form.
