Random films that might be someone’s guilty pleasure movie

A lot of films in any genre have those that aren’t put in high regard. The reasons, of course, would vary in every movie. It would point to the cheesy script, the poor execution of CGI, and so many more. However, these reasons don’t necessarily mean that nobody enjoys them.

On the contrary, a lot of people become drawn to watch what others deem as low-quality films because there aren’t any expectations to be deep or extraordinary. They just have to be fun to watch. Still, liking such movies may make you feel embarrassed.

Personally, I have a lot of guilty pleasure movies. These are the films that I would not put on my recommendation list. However, I would continue to let them consume my personal space.

Now, let me list down some random films that might be someone’s guilty pleasure movie.

PRINCESS SWITCH

During the holiday season, a surge of romantic comedies grows in different settings. One common thing about these settings would include a snowy small town, a snowy cabin, and a snowy city among others. This time, however, the story is set at a snowy palace.

Starring Vanessa Hudges, she basically portrays two roles. Stacy is a talented baker running a pastry shop in Chicago with her best friend Kevin and his daughter Olivia. A week before Christmas, they go to a prestigious baking competition in the Kingdom of Belgravia.

There, Stacy runs into Lady Margaret Delacourt, Duchess of Montenaro and fiancée to Crowned Prince Edward of Belgravia. Struck by their identical looks, Margaret suggested that they switch places for two days. Then, they switch back before the competition and Margaret’s wedding to Edward. Although reluctant at first, Stacy eventually accepts.

It’s totally cliché, absolutely predictable, and yet, we eat it all up.

MAGIC MIKE

Channing Tatum portrays Mike who has big plans for a business of his own. However, he has bills to pay. So, he does a series of odd jobs which most notably includes performing as the star stripper at Xquisite Strip Club. He soon meets a 19-year-old college dropout named Adam who he takes under his swing.

He also encourages him to begin stripping at the club. Adam would introduce Mike to his sister Brooke. Despite an on-and-off relationship with a woman named Joanna, he finds himself attracted to Brooke and promises to look after Adam. But, of course, chaos ensues as the younger man falls further into the excessive lifestyle.

There are at least half a dozen other men who perform as strippers and the entire film is just about stripping and sex and drugs. How is this considered a guilty pleasure movie again? Oh, right… Channing Tatum dancing provocatively. Got it.

TWILIGHT

Kristen Stewart portrays Bella Swan, a seventeen-year-old girl who left Phoenix, Arizona to move in with her father Charlie in Forks, Washington. She gets reacquainted with her childhood friend Jacob Black and makes friends at her new high school.

However, she finds a certain group of siblings particularly intriguing — especially the one she was seated next to her in biology class… Edward Cullen. The entire saga revolves around their relationship and vampirism and everything that comes along with it.

Bella and Edward would later fall in love and have a kid with a very unusual name, Renesmee Carlie Cullen. The entire Twilight saga is one of the greatest guilty pleasure movies. It has vampires, werewolves, love triangles, and teenage hormones. It basically has everything that is dubbed as elements for a cheesy film.

LEAP YEAR

This movie stars Amy Adams and Matthew Goode. It follows Anna Brady, a successful real estate worker who heads to Ireland to ask her boyfriend to accept her wedding proposal on a leap day. This tradition supposedly holds that men can’t refuse a woman’s proposal for marriage.

This further becomes complicated when she hires an Irish innkeeper, Declan, to take her to her boyfriend in Dublin. Of course, chaos ensues as her plans become interrupted by a series of events. Unexpected feelings are stirred. And, a whole can of beans was revealed.

It’s actually a good guilty pleasure movie… if you disregard the fact that she had feelings for someone else while planning to propose to another.

ANY ADAM SANDLER FILM

If there is anyone who has ever made tons of guilty pleasure movies, it would definitely be Adam Sandler. Sure, he’s a talented actor and a very funny one at that. But, for some reason, his films hook the viewers with a plot that rarely makes sense. This, of course, includes Jack and Jill, 50 First Dates, and Murder Mystery to name a few. Really, think of any of his movies and you will laugh from the absurdity.

Having guilty pleasure movies does not mean you have poor taste in films. Well, maybe a bit if they are the only type of movies that you watch. Still, it can be good to have a breather film, something easy to watch and digest.
