MJ Lastimosa tweeted against the bashers of Miss Universe Philippines 2021, Bea Gomez
Miss Universe Philippines 2014 Mary Jean Lastimosa addressed all the haters in a recent tweet, referring to them as “Marites“.
“Marites” is the Philippine version of a “Karen”. It often pertains to a middle-aged woman who says things that are out of the line or involves regressive thinking. They are also known to be very strong about their opinions and often demand the manager.
However, I believe that various kinds of Marites have infiltrated the Philippines—both young and middle-aged.
This time, they have been posting criticisms against newly-crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2021, Beatrice Luigi Gomez.
However, MJ said that there is nothing that they can do about it. Gomez was destined to win the crown.
The beauty queen took her thoughts to Twitter on Friday morning, October 1. She addressed all the bashers of the newly crowned queen.
MJ told them to give the winner a break. She shared how she has many friends who weren’t able to snatch the crown. However, aside from their efforts, you can’t mess with someone’s destiny.
She also referred to Bea as a “Dark Horse” for not being very mainstream but an absolute eye-catcher.
In a reply to the tweet as part of the thread, she also mentioned how Bea’s “stars were evidently shining”.
A valuable lesson everyone should be able to remember though is to stop invalidating the winner. Check on your favorite candidates instead and make them feel loved.
“Defeat takes time to be accepted but mind you it’s a good tool for success too.”
The beauty queen from Cotabato congratulated Beatrice with a tweet that ended with the Cebuano phrase.
Mary Jean is also a good friend of Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo.
I just wanna congratulate Beatrice on being Miss Universe Philippines 2021. I have read great things about her as well as her beautiful statements about many aspects. I can’t wait for her to rock that stage in Israel.
