Crab2Go Humble Beginnings

Edgardo Cruz or Chef Edd, the owner of Crab2Go started the business during pandemic and after struggling with depression. They only start through online.

The story starts when his son, Nico who is also a business owner asked him if he wants to cook some crabs. According to Edgardo Cruz, his son wants to eat it because during pandemic, ordering online takes 10 days to received. It is because of the demands or long line of orders.

Because of that, his son had an idea to market Edd’s crab dish and turn it into a business. However, that time he did want to run another business because of what he experiences in his last business. Chef Edd went through bankruptcy that made him lost all his savings that he invested for 32 years.

This became one of his darkest days as he became depressed for almost a year. But everyone has their own time. With the help of his son, he starts with a 10,000 pesos capital and cooked 5 kilos of crabs in a clean garbage bag in box. This is where Crab2Go starts to grow.

From just 5 kilos of order a day, to almost 250 kilos a week, they are now selling 1000 kilos for a month. That is how powerful the business is since then.

This growth spreads in the market and attract more customers. Their official Facebook site has now 34 thousand followers. According to him, this large number is hard to achieve as a staring business. The 30 to 40 percent of this followers are returned customers.

Uniqueness of the business

Crab2Go stand out because of the excellent quality of food and service it gives to the customers.

“I used the concept ni Crab2Go from the heart of the human being. Kinuha ko yung konspeto na ito sa puso at pakiramdam ng isang tao. How would you feel when you dine in?”, Mr. Eddie said.

“Ang ginawa ni Crab2Go, Quality over quatity. Dahil sa pakiramdam mo. Ang ginawa ko pagpapasok yung customer ko dito at nag order I’ll try to make sure na pag sinerve ko yung pagkain I had to feed your eys first before your mouth.”, he added.

Happy customer makes their restaurant stand out more. Sir Edd said that they treat their customer like kings and queens by giving back what they deserve.

“Pinipilit kong mag serve ng 3, kung kakayanin ko ipa implement ang 5 star hotel services yun ang gagawin ko. Pero umikot ka rito sa Visayas Avenue, kapag nag run kami ng service hindi mo makikita yan dun kase sa special quality ng service na binibigay naming.”, he proudly said.

The quality dishes and great services help them in achieving their goal as a restaurant business. It is to create quality seafood dish that binds the family together.

Signature Dishes

The restaurant serves luscious and fresh dishes of crabs and shrimps. Their best seller is Butter Garlic and Cajun Crabs and Shrimp. They also serve other flavors such as salted egg and sweet and spicy.

You can order all crab or all shrimp in the flavors of Singaporean chillis, Hoisin sauce, Alavar sauce and Fried garlic.

Since it is a seafood restaurant, he also wants to cater the Muslim people. That is why according to him there are many Muslims that eat in their restaurant. They are not serving other dishes aside from their crabs and shrimp dishes.

Another thing that makes the restaurant unique is their organic free ingredients. He stated that they are not adding any additives to their dishes.

“Gusto customer ko sila forever and healthy sila.”, he said
