Green Flags to Find on Your Next Date

Green Flags to Find on Your Next Date

Everybody knows how dating can be an emotional minefield. Stories describing disastrous dates because of unexpected quirks are not unusual, and are often defined as “red flags”. Get too many of those, and a second date will be nothing short of a pipe dream. Understandably, looking for red flags tends to be anxiety-inducing and takes your attention out of the date. To avoid this, here instead are some green flags to notice on your next date!

Green Flag #1: Clears the bare minimum

A great date, first and foremost, must know how to be a decent human being. They must be respectful of your time and mindful of your well-being. This also includes showing initiative and interest in you as a person and seeming to genuinely have good intentions. This first green flag sets the tone for the rest of the list, so be sure to stay vigilant and don’t neglect your instinct!

Green Flag #2: Presence of a healthy relationship with other people.

If you are dating someone involved in social relationships with other people, they are great at establishing communication (which you absolutely want!). This means that this person either has a solid friend group, is involved in organizations, or is family-oriented. They have enough relationships to devote their time to but are still willing to commit and allow time for you. So if they positively talk about either their friends, family, or workmates, keep being optimistic and tick this box off your list!

Green Flag #3: Exhibits behavior that makes them trustworthy.

Trust in your partner is one of the main tenets of a healthy relationship. Your partner needs to understand how important transparency and privacy are. Do they ask for your permission before they share something considerably personal with other people? Are they sensitive and mindful of your pet peeves, traumas, and apparent dislikes? Finding these small details can be detrimental to both the emotional and mental well-being of your relationship!

Green Flag #4: Knows how to communicate

Two people must communicate in order to settle their differences and find a common ground. Your date should know to not just hear but listen. Partners able to speak their minds freely and openly can clear any unnecessary doubts and clarify mutual goals. And more than communicating, they must also be able to comprehend you in a deep and understanding way. Only then would the dating blossom into a full-fledged relationship.

Finding these traits can save you heartbreak long before it even happens. But like any other relationship advice, take this one with a grain of salt. No one can say for certain who can tolerate who and to which extent. But always value your very own welfare, because dates come as fast as they go, but you remain.

Take care of your hearts, people! It beats for no one but us.
