GMA Network airs defunct shows after entertainment program suspension
In case you didn’t know, GMA Network announced temporary suspension of entertainment program production due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. This follows President Rodrigo Duterte‘s announcement of placing the entire Metro Manila under a 30-day community quarantine. This, of course, follows the transmission and to avoid the increase of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines.

In a public statement, the suspension became one of the measures they did to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their talents, production teams, employees, their families, and the general public. Kapuso show re-runs take over time slots of GMA Afternoon Prime and GMA Telebabad. The suspension temporarily sees shows like Magkaagaw, Prima Donnas, Descendants of the Sun, and Anak ni Waray VS. Anak ni Biday to be replaced as soon as their pre-taped episodes finish airing this week.
Here are the defunct GMA Network shows that set to air this week:
Ika-6 Na Utos.
On Wednesday, March 18, Sunshine Dizon’s Magkaagaw will go temporarily off-air. Her previous top-rating 2016 series Ika-6 Na Utos replaced the time slot. Birthing memes online, it also stars Gabby Concepcion and now ABS-CBN actress Ryza Cenon.
On Thursday, March 19, Prima Donnas starring Jillian Ward, Althea Ablan, and Sofia Pablo will also take a break on-air. Ika-6 Na Utos will occupy it in an extended time slot.
Kambal, Karibal.
On Wednesday, March 18, Barbie Forteza and Kate Valdez’s series Anak ni Waray VS. Anak ni Biday will also temporarily stop its run. Replacing it will be Bianca Umali and Kyline Alcantara’s 2017 hit prime-time series Kambal, Karibal.
Encantadia.
Descendants of the Sun starring Dingdong Dantes and Jennylyn Mercado will also stop airing. The well-loved remake + sequel of fantasy series Encantadia will take over the DOTS time slot. This stars Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia, Sanya Lopez, and Glaiza de Castro.
My Husband’s Lover.
This week, GMA Afternoon Prime series Bilangin Ang Bituin Sa Langit and GMA Telebabad Drama Love of My Life will continue air their respective pre-taped episodes. Love of My Life stars Carla Abellana, Rhian Ramos, Coney Reyes, and Mikael Daez will continue airing its canned episode until Friday, March 20. On Monday, March 23, Carla’s past series My Husband’s Lover will replace its time slot. This also stars Tom Rodriguez and Dennis Trillo.
GMA Network has yet to announce until when Bilangin Ang Bituin Sa Langit will continue its run. This stars Nora Aunor, Kyline Alcantara, and Mylene Dizon.
