Camiguin Island, A wonder of beauty

Camiguin experience never starts if you didn’t visit White Island and Mantigue Island.

From it’s name White Island, this sandbar truly live up to it’s name with picturesque location and white sand beach. Added, the area is ideal for snorkeling trip with it’s clear blue water that you would love.

Similarly, Mantigue Island adore for its white sand beach added that it has a natural park. This park preserve as the habitat for many protected marine and ecological animals that only in Camiguin can be seen. Further, Mantigue Island offers activities such as swimming, snorkling and even visit the part with restrictions.

The waterfall experience

Camiguin Island is not just best for its beaches and sandbars but for it’s magnificent waterfalls. Two of which are Tuasan and Katiabawasan Falls.

Tuasan Falls are the most popular falls in Camiguin situated in a deep forest of Catarman. It will start with a trek before making it to the falls. After a queit journey, the 82 feet high water falls will surprise you. The fall are best for swimming and hiking.

In addition, the Katibawasan Falls are a 250 feet high waterfalls that sustain habitat for wild fern and orchids. With it’s massive height the falls are the favorite jump-off point for its tourists and trekkers.

Sunken cemetery and Spanish Churches

From beach to falls, Camiguin also shares culture from the past from Old Spanish churches and the famous Sunken Cemetery.

The Sunken Cemetery was part of the old city that was sunken by the eruption of Mt. Vulcan in the island. This caused the town to disappear from the land along with cemetery. A huge cross was built to comemorate the lives of those who lost in the eruption.

  • Santo Rosarion Church – located in Sagay and built in 1882.

Camiguin as Island of Fire

Camiguin believed to be a formed because of four volcano. These volcano can be seen active today that’s why Camiguin named as Island of Fire.

Here are the list of the Camiguin volcanoes:

  • Mount Butay – located in between towns of Mahinogband Guinsiliban, its also known as Mount Uhay
  • Mount Guinsiliban – located in the town of Guinsiliban
  • Mount Hibok-hibok and Mount Vulcan – the only active volcano vents in Camiguin.
  • Mounth Timpoong – the largest mountain in Camiguin.
