Boracay Islands now has “no registration, no swimming” policy
Boracay Islands is famous for its white sand, amazing sunsets, and panoramic views. Aside from those, this place can offer tranquility, relaxation, and nightlife. No wonder it is one of the top destinations for tourists, whether Filipinos or foreigners. As our government is trying to boost local tourism, it now allowed Boracay to open for leisure activities. However, given that you’ll practice physical distancing and you register before diving into clear waters of its beaches.
You must register first before swimming at Boracay beaches
As the province transitions to general community quarantine, the Department of Tourism Region VI implemented a “no registration, no swimming” policy in Boracay. The authorities are now allowing swimming activities with physical distancing. But if you want to do so, you’ll need to log your information for contact tracing purposes. They will verify incoming tourists at the Caticlan and/or Tabon Port by the Department of Tourism VI and Municipal Tourism Office.
In a Facebook post on LGU Malay, the authorities gave specific swimming guidelines in Boracay. They are limiting the number of people and implement physical distancing. Tourists must maintain two meters distance from each other. They are also encouraged to bring their own gear such as goggles and snorkeling masks. This is because they still prohibit the rentals of equipment.
Moreover, four beaches have been opened for swimming from 6 AM to 6 PM. Swimmers must register to the designated swimming area at the lifeguard station. During registration, body temperature shall be taken before going to the swimming area.
The local government also allowed some establishments to open, given that they have a certificate and they maintain minimum public health standards. Tourism establishments who wish to resume operations must apply to the Department of Tourism Region VI They also authorized restaurants to accept customers at half capacity. Even so, restaurant owners are requiring diners to bring their own eating utensils and they should also observe “Clean as you go” policy.
