Maria Clara at Ibarra is a Filipino Television Series based on the Novels of Dr Jose Rizal. Maria Clara Infantes known as “Klay” is a Gen- Z nursing student who is being transported into Jose Rizal’s Novel after reading Noli Me Tangere. She is adaptive, yet she doesn’t fit the stereotype of a Filipina that is prevalent in that environment. Klay’s principles and personality threaten the patriarchy that ruled the social and political scene during Fidel and Ibarra’s period.

The series was based on a historical novel by our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal.

Maria Clara and Ibarra was based on a historical novel by our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal. The Noli Me Tangere is the project that draws to Filipinos’ attention the injustices that took place in society while we were still under Spanish authority. And as well as the horrors committed by priests during the Spanish era. El Filibusterismo discusses issues that are very important to the movement, including the necessity for political reform, racial discrimination against Filipinos, and clergy abuse.

Maria Clara at Ibarra shows us how Spaniards treated us during the Spanish era. The film executes the abuses, not equally treated, and the women have no rights to tell opinions and feelings. The Filipino Television series tells us the message from the past. The Part 2 of the TV series, It shows that Filipino are already awake. The film discuss how filipino move and fight for their right as a human with our own country.

The Cutest Loveteam “FiLay” Fidel and Klay.

The cutest love team “FiLay” (Fidel and Klay) won the hearts of many viewers in the filipino television series. From enemies to lovers. The FiLay started as enemies. They met at restaurant which Klay and Ibarra are along together. They also argue about the societal issues before until Fidel realize that he fall in love with Klay.

The confessing of love by Fidel to Klay which people made kilig and one of the unforgettable scenes in the film. However, Klay also falls for him but she needs to go back to her world since the story is going to end. But in Part 2 Klay comeback to fight and change the destiny of Maria Clara and Ibarra and also to confess her love to Fidel.

A new movie and teleserye featuring David Licauco and Barbie Forteza will grant the wishes of FiLay shippers (fans of the breakout love team David Licauco and Barbie Forteza). Who were left wanting more from their recently completed serial Maria Clara at Ibarra!

As we can see on the series, the portrayals of Maria Clara and Klay have been different. The representation of Maria Clara in the film is the most beautiful girl in San Diego who is the love interest of Crisostomo Ibarra. Maria Clara is an ideal image of “the purity and innocence of a sheltered native Filipino women during the Spanish occupation. While Klay is a strong independent woman who can speak what is on her mind and opinion on certain issues in society. Klay is a representation of women empowerment and knowing the capabilities of being a woman.
