Vlogs and vloggers that have become my source of solace

I’ve started dwelling on Instagram reels, YouTube vlogs, mobile games, and everything in between since a few years ago. It all started when online classes were introduced back in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the unwanted push of quarantines, schools turned to online platforms. It was strangers with gadgets on the first days, then turned to a day by day face to the screen routine. Who would’ve thought that it can be more exhausting and challenging than physically going to school?

Like a map without a compass, the life introduced by the pandemic was not really an ideal one that people would love to go back to. The feeling of being lonely even though you have your family with you 24/7, and friends are online most of the time is just unsettling. Doing academic tasks in the same place every day and night can turn your perspective monochromatic. Burnout and anxiety will follow. But perhaps, I can consider myself lucky to encounter contents that helped me through the tough times and lost tracks. With content like those people who somewhere live alone but manage themselves just right.

Vloggers that became my study buddies and their vlogs that became my source of solace

@studyquill

Threading the lines of wanting to be a good student and learning, yet in a not-so-conclusive study area, all throughout the pandemic is difficult. All the while, running to the internet for some tips is a way to go.

Jasmine of @studyquill is one of those who loves education and helping others. Though currently taking a break from content creation, she will always be that ‘study buddy’ to her viewers. The light-colored environment and cinematography in her videos give off soft and welcoming vibes. The chill jazz, pop, lofi, and other mellow music are very relaxing and help you focus on her topic and narrations. She gives meaningful and factual discussions about topics revolving around studying, living alone, and other helpful life tips. Being a humble student herself makes it more encouraging to follow her and her content.

Another favorite is user @withlovelinh– self, books, nature, and Universe guru. There is a chance that you would stumble on her thrift and fashion content, a good guide to mixing and matching outfits. Linh is like your to-go tea and book, keeping you calm but with fun on every journey. A nice company that shares its principles and ways openly.

Like a newly released autumn collection of chaotic beauty, sincerity, and knowledge. If you’re looking for videos that are aesthetically pleasing, bubbly yet meaningful, and purposeful, checking this Youtube channel is definitely worth it! Linh’s contents are full of colors. From day-to-day stuff, plants, self-love, fashion, small earthly things, and everything in between. Things that would make you want to live and love life.

@aellijon

Lastly, a physical mystery, user @aellijon (E-LI-JON) with content about everything ‘living alone in the Philippines’ perspective. Her face and identity are like a priceless flower hidden within the deepest security service ever existed.  A unique asset and branding for her channel. Nevertheless, she is undoubtedly Filipino.

Unlike the first two, where they show their looks and explain verbally, aellijon makes her videos ASMR-like. She narrates through subtitles accompanied by daily subtle noises that make her videos more raw and genuine. The acoustic song choices in her videos also create that cozy ambiance that can ease stress. Studies say that listening to soft music like lofi and instrumentals helps the brain relax and focus. The silence and peace of living alone, not so lonely, still busy, but can be as lovely.

Variety of content from the pandemic and through

Vlogs with these kinds of content and aesthetics are the ones I find most comfortable. There is calmness in their videos that are meant to be shared. They are like an entertaining reminder to live and to want to do more. Move, explore, and create without pressure.

Like a quiet cue and gentle push for you to sit and breathe, then stand back up. The ambiance, sincerity, and rawness pass through the screen sending warm tingles to my being. Through the pandemic and even after, living alone vlogs have been and are my source of solace.
