Furthermore, on some days, you cannot control the weather at all. There can be times when it will rain out of nowhere and you cannot avoid for your sneakers to become wet. Silica gel absorbs the wetness of the shoe after your use. It can prevent bad odor and fungal growth on your shoes.

Avoid Direct Sunlight

Okay, as you may know, this may seem kind of impossible to do. You cannot avoid the sun. Well, technically, it depends. If you are using your shoes, then yes you cannot avoid the sun at all. However, when your shoes are just in your rack or out in the open experiencing the sizzling heatwave of the sun, then there is a problem that will need to be solved.

Your shoes may get dry and stiff in direct sunlight, and the heat may cause them to crumble or decay. It would be difficult to avoid the sun, especially in a tropical nation like ours so it would be great to take extra care for them. When they are not in use, keeping your kicks in a regulated atmosphere can help to ensure a long shoe life.

Shoe Tree

Shoe trees are one of the most useful aids in keeping your sneakers in their natural shape or texture. With continuous use of your sneakers, of course, there will be instances where your kicks will de-form. Shoe trees can give you the option to preserve their shape to make your shoe looks as natural as possible. One DIY alternative for a shoe tree is by crumpling up newspapers that you change every use. Even though it might not be quite as efficient as a shoe tree, it can nevertheless assist keep the shape of the shoe and absorb some moisture.

Dust Bags

It would be nice if you rotate the use of your kicks from time to time to avoid the increase in aging and avoid them getting dusty. Dust bags are self-explanatory. You put your sneakers in a dust bag, to avoid dust. Another benefit of a dust bag is that it is perfect for travel as well, packing sneakers in your carry-ons is hard because you do not want the dirt under your sneakers to touch your other garments.
