Roxas Night Market: Where The People Go After Sundown

Bring your friends and family to a special place in the heart of Davao City! As the sun goes down, the night market blocks off an entire road along Roxas Avenue. It’s the popular night market that people go to.

Roxas Night Market: Where The People Go After Sundown

It is located at 3JC6+PW7, Roxas Ave, Poblacion District, Davao City, Davao del Sur within the vicinity of Ateneo de Davao University. A tourist destination that only opens in the early evening, Roxas Night Market is a must-visit if you are in the mood for a little late-night touring.

Opening

The pandemic led to its closing for two years, only to return fully on March 24, 2022. At first glance, it is even brighter than before with yellow fluorescent lights brightening the whole length of the market.

Currently, Roxas night market is under Davao City’s health office. The change in management brought many changes such as the spatial distribution and its overall cleanliness. There are 4 entrances and exits which lead to separated sections of the night market. Security is as tight as always with military personnel present outside and inside the perimeter. Remember, backpacks (empty or not) are not allowed inside. As of publishing, masks are mandatory.

Food for anybody and everybody

Food stalls are side by side near the main entrance. Divided by white garage tents. Food vendors are unique with their orange shirts and IDs.

Now, there are 86 food stalls ranging from ihawan staples to Korean street foods, there are even halal food stalls for Muslim visitors. Notably, there are other dining places and pop-up shops open outside of Roxas night market that benefit from its popularity.

Street massage

Meanwhile, more than 70 massage personnel wait for customers further down the road. PHP 300 is for a whole-body massage, and PHP 100 is for a back or foot massage. Hand or Head massages would set you off at only PHP 70, and a dry massage is available for only PHP 50. Plus, they offer free stretching.

If you want to unwind and just relax after a long day, this is the place to go. Get to enjoy the food, drinks, ambiance, and everything else the market has to offer after getting a relaxing massage at their booth.

Accessories and trinkets

After passing by the massage parlor, there are 90 stalls side by side making up the accessory section. Selling accessories for your phone and yourself. They sell hats, keychains, earrings, facemasks, glasses, wallets, and hair accessories among other things as well. They offer other services as well like phone lamination and free name-writing on keychains.

I like to think of this area as the pasalubong center of Davao City with how many Davao-based trinkets and accessories there are available in just this one place.

Clothes, bags, and shoes

Next to the accessories section is the RTW section. It is 90 stalls of clothes, shoes, and bags. Like an ukay-ukay, they have clothes for all genders and ages. Similar to an ukay-ukay, it does take a lot of time if you plan to buy anything from this section. Thankfully, there are vendors on standby and ready for any inquiries you might have.
