realme narzo 50i PRIME: A review for this affordable smartphone
Looking for a smartphone that’s not only affordable but also guarantees fantastic performance? Here’s what realme got for you! Introducing narzo 50i PRIME which is one of the most affordable mobile phones in the market. It’s technologically competitive for its price and comes with 2 color variants; Mint Green and Dark Blue.
What’s in the Box?
Without further ado, let’s not keep the surprise! Inside the box is the narzo 50i PRIME with it’s warranty card, quick start guide, sim ejector pin, and micro usb cable. Surprisingly, the adapter and the headset are not included.
As an avid phone user, it’s much better to have the headset and adapter included, to save myself from buying them. However, this does not affect the quality of this smart phone as we look to these specifications:
Operating System
Given the affordable price, narzo 50i PRIME has realme UI R Edition, Android 11 (internally codenamed Red Velvet Cake) which was released on September 8, 2020. Engineered with Unisoc T612 Octa-Core Processor that gives a decent performance in heavy games and an enjoyable experience in casual gaming.
Display
realme narzo 50i has a screen size of 6.5-inch, which is LCD, with a screen resolution HD+ 720×1600. You can watch almost any videos without any problem supported with a refresh rate of 60Hz. Moreover, it is smooth enough for multiplayer and single player games. Not to mention a competitive touch sampling rate of 120Hz for better response. The middle of the display has a teardrop notch for the front camera. However, it does not support facial recognition and fingerprint scanning for phone unlocking.
Dimensions and Design
With a dimension of (LxWxH): 164.1mm x 75.6mm x 8.5mm, it’s a handy phone that fits perfectly in your hands. Not that big and not that small for a daily use smartphone. It only weighs 182 grams, which a lot lighter than other phones. It also has a sleek design with round corners while the plastic casing has smooth texture that gives the user a comfortable grip while using it.
Audio
For music lovers, even with a single speaker, narzo 50i PRIME has clear sounds and loudness that makes it more enjoyable. A 3.5mm Headphone Jack is also available for you to listen to music and watch videos privately.
Connectivity
Connectivity? Not a problem at all, for it has a whooping 2.4GHz for Wifi connection that assures stable internet connection. narzo 50i PRIME also supports frequency bands of 2G/3G/4G connectivity. Well, as most other smart phones, it has bluetooth capability that can easily connect to other bluetooth enabled devices.
Camera
The middle of the display has a teardrop notch for the 5MP camera for selfies. Although it only has a 5MP, it still does the job. Nonetheless, its rear camera has an 8MP where you can choose picture sizes like: (4:3) 8.0 megapixels, (4:3) 4.0 megapixels, (4:3) 1.9 megapixels, (16:9) 6.0 megapixels, (16:9) 2.4 megapixels, and (16:9) 2.1 megapixels. It also has more options like: panorama, night mode, and time lapse.
Power Supply and Battery
narzo 50i PRIME also has massive battery of 5000mAh which gives you ample time to enjoy browsing, taking pictures or videos, or gaming! Although provided with a big battery it does not support fast charging and has only a 10W charging rate. In my experience, charging the phone in less than an hour gives you about 40 percent of battery life. It takes about an hour and a half to full charge which you can enjoy for the whole day up to four days max.
Gaming Performance
Powered by an Unisoc T612 Octa-Core Processor, narzo 50i PRIME gives a decent performance in heavy games and enjoyable experience in casual gaming. One of the most common games that I enjoy a lot is Mobile Legends. Let’s test it out!
Starting up the game would only take a few seconds given its 3gb ram. I haven’t had any issues with lagging while playing mobile legends although the refresh rate is set to low and graphics to smooth option.
Setting the refresh rate to high and the graphics to medium and high did not affect its performance at all.
I enjoyed playing the game with this incredible yet affordable smartphone and won the game with a victory!
One thing i found out is that it doesn’t have ultra refresh rate and graphics which is common to its class.
Photography
A good way to save memories is by taking a picture and capturing the moments. Although provided with a 5 megapixels for the front camera and 8 megapixels for the rear camera, it does give beautiful pictures to remember.

Well, we have tested the camera on daylight and it didn’t disappoint. Can we expect more with the it’s night mode option? I can say that it really does exceed my expectation being a low-budget phone but with this kind of quality. Here’s some of my night time photos!

As a teacher of Leocadio Alejo Entienza High School, it is a need for the student to have smart phones for their studies and online clas. However, due to the recent pandemic, it has affected the life of my students financially. There are instances that we need to contact the students through social media platforms like facebook and messenger. While on video call/conference, the image quality is good supported by it’s good audio. This makes the conversation easier for the learners and contribute to their learning.
