Paolo Contis speaks up on breakup with LJ Reyes, apologized for being “marupok and gago”
In a previous article here in Village Pipol, we discussed how LJ Reyes must have felt regarding the cheating issue of former partner Paolo Contis. We saw how she was in so much pain during the tell-all interview with TV host Boy Abunda. To recall, she first confirmed the breakup and revealed that it was not mutual.
Paolo took his apology on Instagram
After several days of silence regarding the separation issue with LJ, Paolo finally aired his side. In a two-part statement posted on Instagram, the actor admitted that he cheated on LJ. Yet, he also made efforts on clearing the name of his film co-star Yen Santos.
The former couple has been together for six years and has a 2-year-old daughter named Summer. Ten-year-old Aki, Reyes’ son from her past relationship with actor Paulo Avelino, is in the actress’ care and had been close to Contis.
In his long post on Instagram, the actor tried to explain five topics all in all: accusations against him regarding drug use and domestic violence, a third-party issue, clarifying Yen Santos was not the cause of the break-up, the reason why he was spotted with her in Baguio City, and defending his manager Lolit Solis.
Did he cheat on LJ Reyes with Yen Santos?
Regarding violence and drug use, the actor said that they were false claims. He said he never laid a finger on his former partner and the kids.
However, he confessed that cheating on LJ was a big factor in their separation.
“Aaminin ko, naging marupok at gago ako sa ilang taon naming pagsasama. I’m not proud of it. For that, I’m sincerely sorry. I’m truly ashamed of my actions.”
Regarding Yen Santos, Paolo defended his Faraway Land co-actor, saying that people should not involve her with his family’s issues.
“Kung matagal na kaming hindi okay ni LJ, it was mainly because of me. Masyado niyo siyang diniin sa issue na to. Pati pag promote namin ng movie nabahiran na ng kung anu ano.”
In relation, Paolo said Yen was with him in Baguio as a friend while his family was in the United States.
“When LJ left for the States with the kids, I went to Baguio for 3 days dahil ayaw ko sa Manila at gusto kong makapag isip-isip. Naging insensitive ako about the possible effects nung issue and I invited Yen for a day para may makausap since malapit lang siya sa North din.”
Going to Baguio with a “friend”?
However, his explanation regarding the Baguio incident seemed fishy to several netizens.
We also find it illogical that he found comfort from another woman instead of fixing his relationship with his partner. Even though he claims it is not cheating, his actions may lead to that reckless behavior.
Contis also took the time to tell people to stop bashing his manager, Lolit Solis. He wrote,
“Please stop bashing her. Nanay ko si Lolit. Natural lang na ipagtanggol niya ako kahit mali ako. May nanay din kayo di ba? Hindi niyo alam ang mga pagalit at pangaral niya sa akin pag kami lang ang naguusap. Sinabihan ko na siya to stop protecting me. Ang sinabi lang niya ay HINDI, ANAK KITA! HAYAAN MO AKO! For that, I’m sorry Nay. And thank you! Sa inyo pareho ni Nay Cristy.”
For us, Paolo’s way of defending Lolit Solis and Cristy Fermin would be a futile effort. Why? He seems to say that both those women are on his side because they treat him like a son. However, if they chose to lie to the public just to protect his reputation, they are like accomplices on his cheating behavior.
Lastly, Paolo made a separate apology to Summer and Aki, saying that he wants to see his daughter someday.
In his message for his baby daughter with Reyes, Contis wrote:
“To Summer, I’m sorry my Ganda. I love and miss you so much. Papa will do his best to be better. I will always be here for you. I promise.”
Paolo also apologized to Aki for failing him, saying he wished he could have done things differently.
These two are the best statements on Paolo’s written apology on Instagram. Those two kids are basically innocent and should be spared from this issue. Paolo did not only commit a huge mistake to LJ, but his wrong decisions took a toll on his family.
