My Guilty Pleasures: Jeje Songs

Jejemon Phase

Jejemon is a cultural phenomenon that almost every millennial has gone through. It’s really inevitable for you to not experience it, especially in high school.

TikTok creators have recently been making content about the early 2010’s jeje experiences. Ychan Laurenz (@ychanlaurenz) and Sassa Gurl (@itssassagurl) are among the few who have been reminding everyone of their roots. From the overly-sided bangs to the pabebe posts that most of us have tried, they certainly nailed it! I even felt guilty when I saw that.

A Timeless Tune

The rap and melody of the songs just can’t stop running through your head. It’s just on a loop. Even if you don’t find it one of your favorite songs, you can’t deny that you can still recall some of the lyrics.

Why it’s a guilty pleasure?

It’s funny how my friends would always point out to me that I am still Jeje and haven’t passed the phase yet. With the songs that I have been listening to, I think I’m starting to believe them. I personally think that many have gone past the phase already, but you can never deny how much impact it had on us during our teenage years.

I find this as my guilty pleasure just because most people I know tend to find these songs annoying. Not only because of its vulgar words but because of the overly used auto tunes. Some don’t even consider this as good music and I sometimes find offense in that.

I feel guilty listening to this but the effect it has just doesn’t fade.

My Jeje songs playlist

There are many other songs that you just can’t shake off your head. I could list them all down but that would really take time.

Although many people find these songs irritating, I still think that these are one of the OPM songs that represented our youth.
