Lorde to release new album ‘Solar Power’ this 2021
Fans have been waiting for new music from pop icon Lorde for ages now. Well, it seems like the pop gods have answered her fans’ prayers. She has just confirmed her new album, Solar Power in the second half of this year.
On her website, the singer-songwriter shared a beautiful photo of her derriere with a text that says, Solar Power. It somehow confirmed the rumors that it is the title of her much-anticipated music. It’s been four years after Lorde released her second album, Melodrama. It also had a note below her photo which read,
ARRIVING IN 2021…PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE.
The announcement came a week after some tracks from her upcoming third album have allegedly leaked online. After Lorde was named as one of the performers at Spain’s Primavera Festival to be held in June 2022.
The singer has been sending fans e-mail to keep them updated. Her third album was first teased in May of 2020. In one of the emails, she revealed that she’s collaborating again with acclaimed record producer Jack Antonoff. Jack has worked with Lorde in Melodrama. He has also collaborated with other music icons, such as Lana del Rey, Pink, and of course, Taylor Swift.
Lorde wrote,
“A thing started to take shape. And then, of course, the world shut down. We’re still working away — Jack and I FaceTimed for over an hour this morning going over everything. But it’ll take a while longer.”
She also encouraged fans to be patient and promised that it’ll be worth the wait.
“Waiting, the thing that felt so pointless and annoying when I was young, is now this kind of delicio activity. In my opinion, the greatest treat I can give you is work that will last ten, twenty, thirty years. And that kind of work takes time. So if you can, I’d like for you to try tuning in to the time spent waiting for something of the highest quality to arrive.”
Lorde continued by saying that as the fans waited, it will lead to a build-up.
“Enjoy the sensation as it builds. When the moment comes, our wave will crest super f–ing high. I can tell you, this new thing, it’s got its own colours now. If you know anything about my work, you’ll know what that means. The work is so f–ing good, my friend. I am truly jazzed for you to hear it.”
Adding up to the hype, Malay is also on board the creation of her third album. He is another producer whom Lorde has worked with in Melodrama. In an interview with Reverb magazine in July 2020, he confirmed that Lorde is taking her time in producing the highly anticipated album.
“She has an insane vision, and she is not going to compromise whatsoever.”
It is only a short while till the release of the amazing music that the singer promised us. As she said, let us enjoy the build-up and let it linger until it comes.
