Late Senator and the Iron Lady of Asia, Miriam Defensor-Santiago once mentioned in a college forum something about hard work back in 2013:

You students, there is no substitute to hard work. Kaya huwag kayong mangongopya, and if you copy, you will never succeed-

However, her advice doesn’t only apply to academics. This can also apply to things that require commitment. One of them includes achieving your dreams where we can all start from zero. Furthermore, progress takes time and effort. As long as you’re willing to work hard for it, the outcome will always be worth the wait.

Late Miriam Defensor-Santiago: “There is no substitute for hard work.”

Upon putting another meaning to the late Senator’s iconic quote. Remember that hard work doesn’t equate to tiring yourself to death.

Working hard means putting enough effort into your learnings and the willingness to adapt to changes. Still, prioritize your mental and physical health because your dreams will be nothing without you.

Truly, there is no substitute for hard work and a shortcut to success. You have to go through a lot of things to be able to perform something properly. Moreover, no matter how slow or fast your progress is, it’s still progress. The last time I checked, baby steps still moves forward, and so can you!

So, go out there and achieve your dreams no matter how complicated it looks.

Read more books if necessary, as long as they interest and benefit you. Never be afraid of trying out new things because it might help you to progress further in life. Moreover, you can work hard and work smart, right?

Spend more time studying but never leave your health on the last. Continue learning and enjoy the process that learning brings. Working smart can challenge your mind to find fun in things.

Let yourself be the first supporter that believes in your capabilities of achieving those impossible dreams no matter how long it takes. However, not everyone has the same opportunity, but no matter how hard, strive and acknowledge your progress.

Keep on moving to keep your balance and you will get to your destination.

Things may go rocky, and you can rest if you need to, you can breathe fresh air if things go south, but never give up your ambitions. Moreover, continue doing the things that you love. Exert extra effort in getting the takeaways and skills and never lose sight of your goal.

Be with people who celebrate and appreciate you, and you may also take constructive criticisms as your stepping stone in building yourself and your dreams.

Padayon, there is truly no substitute for hard work so keep going no matter how long it takes until you attain your own definition of success!
