Herlene Budol gears up for Miss Planet International
Since her appointment as Miss Planet Philippines in August, Herlene Budol only has two months to train for Miss Planet International 2022.
The pressure of a Filipina beauty queen to perform well despite limited preparation time is something we have mastered over the years. Regardless of the constraints, we may nevertheless count on a Filipina to perform admirably, especially when the circumstances demand it.
This is exactly what we’re hoping for as we await for Herlene’s international pageant debut.
Despite her earlier accomplishment at Binibining Pilipinas, when she placed as first runner-up, Herlene is still regarded as a newbie in the industry. Knowing what she still needs to improve, Herlene has been quietly working with her team.
With only a month to go before she leaves for the competition, Herlene Budol is finally giving us a glimpse into her preparations.
Support from the matriarch
Despite not having the title on their roster, Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. has been tremendously supportive of Herlene.
In an Instagram post, Binibining Pilipinas shares this image, showing a behind-the-scenes look of Herlene’s photoshoot. Appearing to be taken at the organization’s office in Araneta City, they tease that official photos will be revealed soon.
For us pageant fans, this was the blessing have been waiting for. And true enough, on September 10, they posted this photo along with the caption, “She is ready to conquer the solar system.”
It is worth mentioning that Herlene’s manager, Wilbert Tolentino, has sought Binibining Pilipinas permission to allow her to compete. Considering her contractual commitments to the organization, it was a crucial decision, but nonetheless, BPCI ultimately gave their approval.

Last September 30, Herlene announced that she will be wearing a gown designed by Leo Almodal for the pageant. She also mentions that they have started a series of trials and look tests.
A well-known designer, Leo had some of the biggest names in the national and international pageant scene wear his creations. With the likes of Miss Universe Philippines 2014 Mary Jean Lastimosa, The Miss Globe 2021 Maureen Montagne, and even Miss Earth 2016 Katherine Espin to name a few.
With the amount of glam and prestige, we’re very excited to see what Leo has in store for Herlene.
Amplyfing our national language on the world stage
Since her time as a candidate at Binibining Pilipinas, Herlene has been very vocal of using Filipino for the competition. A move that favored her success, Herlene promises to bring this aspect now that she’ll be flying abroad.
Because of this, Wilbert Tolentino took to Facebook, saying that they are currently looking for a professional interpreter to help and assist Herlene. Moreover, the interpreter must also have the ability to speak in front of a large crowd and cameras.

Miss Planet International will take place on November 19 in Kampala, Uganda. Expected arrivals of the candidates will begin as early as November 5.
