The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) started the paralympic movement to support our involved athletes in games. As well as the Paralympic Games that was designed for international sports events for athletes with disabilities. To continue to give courage, determination, inspiration, and equality for our para-athletes who can do more beyond limits.

Furthermore, the Philippines will also join the coming Paralympic Games. We will have six athletes that will represent the country in the event. These include Allain Ganapin for para-taekwondo, who bagged a bronze medal in the Asian Qualifying Tournament for Tokyo 2020 held in Jordan last month. Also, Jerrold Mangliwan, for para-athletics who also competed in the last 2016 Rio Games. As well as who beats the Paralympic qualifying time in the wheelchair race in the 2021 World Para Athletics Grand Prix held last month in Nottwil, Switzerland.

Aside from that, Jeanette Aceveda will also join the para-athletics in the women’s F11/12 discus throw event. While Ernie Gawilan for para-swimming, who also competed in the 2021 World Para Swimming World Series held at Berlin, Germany. Gary Bejino will also join Gawilan in para-swimming.

Lastly, the powerlifting veteran Achelle Guion will represent the country on para powerlifting. Guion made her debut in sports at the 2012 London Paralympics in the women’s 44kg event. She also won her silvers in the 2014 and 2018 Asian Para Games in the women’s 45kg event. Also, a delegate in the five-athlete squad in the 2016 Rio edition.

Continue to support our athletes

I believe all our athletes who fight for their dreams and will represent deserve the biggest support and best treatment from our countrymen. Our para-athletes proved beyond doubt that’s there’s nothing impossible for those who believe in themselves.
