During a recent episode of the noontime program, the topic came up when a contestant of Tawag ng Tanghalan shared her personal situation of having recently started to live independently.

Because this, Tyang Amy couldn’t help but relate to the situation with his own adult son. She has a son named Adi from her former marriage. On the other hand, she has two young children with her current husband, news reporter Carlo Castillo.

Vice Ganda asked Tyang Amy,

Holding back herself from feeling things, Amy visibly became emotional, saying,

Perez recalled that as Adi approached adulthood, he would increasingly value privacy and making his own decisions. She shared her longing for the company of Adi but also emphasized that she understood the importance of letting her son experience living independently.

No matter how hard we try to conceal and run from the truth, we can’t run from the reality of life. For mothers, it is pride and joy to see their children grow into the best person that they can be. And in order to do that, they have to let them go and explore. Mothers often say that their children will always be their babies. That’s why it’s hard for them to see them leave. However, there are realities in life that they have to face—and that is to let their children spread their wings and fly on their own.
