Did Vice Ganda really throw shade at Zephanie? Here’s what the people think

Last Sunday, ‘Idol Philippines’ Season 2 held its grand finals with Khimo Gumatay emerging as the grand winner. However, his win was quickly overshadowed due to the issue involving Vice Ganda and Zephanie Dimaranan.

Vice—a former judge from season 1—returned to the program as a performer and was asked to give a message for the upcoming Idol Philippines champion. Aside from the opportunities she wishes the winner would receive, she jokingly stated that the winner should stay under ABS-CBN.

“Sa bagong hihiranging grand ‘Idol’ winner, sana maraming magbukas na opportunities sa ‘yo… Sana mag-stay ka muna dito sa network.”

This prompted reactions from both the judges and the audience who were caught on camera.

Vice’s response quickly became a trending topic on social media. Many believe that the comedian threw an indirect shade towards season 1 winner Zephanie who recently transferred to GMA. Whether if it was meant for her or not, the controversial comment did find its way in the heat of public discussions. As what we would expect, it garnered mixed views and opinions.

Truth or Tea?

For Vice’s fans, this should have been taken lightly as no name was even dropped. Further stating that no one should have been surprised by Vice’s candor since what she said was simply the truth. Many also brought up the fact that it was because of Vice that Zephanie was able to stay on the show leading up to her victory.

On the other hand, supporters of Zephanie came to her defense stating that Zephanie’s decision to move was made so that she can continue providing for her family. Meanwhile, others are calling Vice Ganda out for her rude and out-of-touch behavior. Expressing that if the network had plans for Zephanie, they should have renewed her contract or didn’t leave her on idle.

As of this writing, both Vice Ganda and Zephanie hasn’t spoken up about the issue.

As previously mentioned, Zephanie is now with the Kapuso Network. She is under the GMA’s talent agency, Sparkle, and is a part of the Sunday variety program All-Out Sunday.
