Even there are restrictions for a new normal wedding nowadays, we keep on seeing couples walking on the aisle. Yes, marriage is a pretty big step. It’s also a memorable day not only for the bride and groom but also for their family and friends.

Working closely with the future brides is the key

Aside from the venue and the photography team, couples should also think and choose carefully what to wear on that day. Although some might argue that it’s just a one-day occasion, photos and videos are forever. Thankfully, Chynna Mamawal released her own bridal collection that will make the day more magical and romantic.

Chynna’s new collection for 2021 is all about inspiration. She made a point to observe the trends since weddings are now more intimate and straightforward. More brides prefer versatile yet stylish gowns. Therefore, the whole collection showcases flexible yet chic wedding dresses for contemporary Filipino women.  Gone were the lavish ones since the minimalist gowns prevail.

According to Chynna, she wanted to design more trendy wedding dresses than traditional styles. She noted that time has changed so more brides are open to trying something different.

“Every time I make a wedding gown or a suit for a client, I make sure to veer away from the traditional styles because I feel like, how am I a fashion designer if I will just offer the same style? So, I usually interview my clients first before I sketch because I want to get to know their personalities better so I know what to sketch for them and I put my personal touch to it.”

Chynna Mamawal wants her pieces personal and unique so she collaborates with her clients. She said that the wedding gown must reflect the bride’s personality combined with her aesthetic as a fashion designer. In that way, the brides’ dresses are for them and only for them.

Minimalist with a modern luxe twist

Moreover, this talented designer already worked with a lot of customers in the past. With that, she got her inspiration to introduce a ready-to-wear collection. She noticed that there are few modern wedding dresses in Manila.

“It’s also an interesting time since we are transitioning to the new norm. I wanted to give brides more options that would fit any kind of wedding that they want to do. May it be a civil or intimate wedding, garden wedding, church wedding, or even a beach wedding!”

Chynna shared the bridal trends for next year: Statement Capes or Boleros, Minimalist Luxe, Sheer or Nude Wedding Gowns, Backless, Transformative Pieces, Subtle Sparkle, Wedding Trousers or Jumpsuits, Layered Skirts, Tea-length Dresses, High Low, Square Necklines, Maxi Bow, Exaggerated Ruffles, and Faux Feathers.

Lastly, Chynna Mamawal gave a message for couples who are planning to get married soon:

“As I said earlier, life isn’t canceled. Life is hard now but let’s not forget to be appreciative and grateful for what we have. Based on my experience, intimate weddings are even more solemn and makes us realize the most important things and people in our lives. You would feel the overflowing love and care that these attendees have for the couple.”
