Budget-friendly Exploration in DRT Bulacan

Doña Remedios Trinidad, more commonly known as its acronym ‘DRT’ can be found in the province of Bulacan. Dubbed as “Bulacan’s Last Frontier”, the city is the least visited part of Bulacan despite its natural beauty. The province offers various waterfalls, mountains, and rivers. Often overlooked by many tourists, DRT in Bulacan can be the least-crowded place you’ll find near Metro Manila.

Almost an unseen beauty to many, what should you explore in DRT? A mixture of serenity plus natural wonders, you’d be surprise with everything it has to offer. Pack your gears and let’s find out!

Puning Cave

If you want a scenic view aside from the usual mountain top experience, you have to try visiting Puning Cave at Barangay Bayabas, DRT. Trek the slopes of the way to this cave!

Inside the cave, you get to experience the once-in-a-lifetime view of the rock formations. A challenging yet fun experience because of its different-sized areas, beginners may need to have a it more guide than usual. Local tour guides are also present to assist you so you don’t have to worry whether it is dangerous or not. At the end of your trail, you may enjoy swimming at the Puning River with its water that runs along inside the cave

With just PHP 40 (environmental fee) in your pocket, you get to experience nature in its purest form.

Mt. Manalmon and Mt. Gola

If you’re into hikes rewarded with a gorgeous view at the end, Mt. Manalmon and Mt. Gota in DRT is for you!

At 192 meters above sea level, you can reach the top of Mt. Gola in just about 2 hours of hiking. What greets you at the end is the vast view of the Sierra Madre mountain range once you reach the peak. Meanwhile, at 196 meters above sea level, Mt. Manalmon’s peak is higher but you can reach this in less than two hours. Considered as beginner-friendly, the climb has no direct assaults and it is a lot less steep than usual hikes.

The twin summit is separated by a river in the middle, perfect for taking pictures and capturing the moment. Usually hiked together in a day tour, exploring the two mountains is considered as beginner-friendly because of its accessibility. A guide is also available for those who need extra help!
