Brooklyn Nine-Nine Episodes to Watch if You’re Missing the Squad

Brooklyn Nine-Nine or B99 is an American comedy TV show that first aired in 2013. It follows the story of Detective Jake Peralta and his NYPD Detective Squad. Apart from the life lessons and the constant laughter that Brooklyn Nine-Nine brings, it also showcases an incredible bond between co-workers turned family. And as the series ends with the release of Season 8, let us look back into the softest moments of the 99 Squad that made us say noice.

Season 2, Episode 12: “Beach House”

Beach House opened with the 99 detectives preparing for their much-awaited vacation in Charles’ beach house. However, as Jake was getting ready to leave, he discovered that Captain Holt was never invited to any co-worker’s get-together. Jake decided to bring him along, feeling sorry for his superior, which made the vacation awkward. Trying to make the situation better, Jake decided to devise a plan, which immediately backfired.

This episode is a fresh break from the usual B99 episode where they solve cases and chase criminals around the streets of New York. Bonus points for it gave us a quality Jake and Captain Holt moment where Jake gave Holt a piece of advice to bonding better with the squad.

Season 4, Episode 3: “Coral Palms: Part 3”

This episode showed Jake and Captain Holt on the run from the police and deciding to hide in a storage unit. Meanwhile, the 99 detectives scrambled to come to Jake and Holt’s aid. Once the 99 arrived in Coral Palms, Jake informed them of his plan to lure and catch Figgis in Fun Zone to finally end his and Holt’s pretend lives in Florida.

Coral Palms: Part 3 is the last addition to the Coral Palms episodes that kickstarted the Season 4 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Although each episode of Coral Palms was fantastic on its own, Part 3 holds a significant aww-moment, for it featured the awaited reunion of the 99 squads.

Season 4, Episode 15: “The Last Ride”

After hearing the news that their precinct was about to be shut down, the 99 detectives scrambled to make their last moments their best. Jake and Charles were determined to get out in the blaze of glory and solve a case that would aid the 99. Meanwhile, Amy and Captain Holt rushed a mentoring session. And Terry and Rosa raced to beat Hitchcock’s record of most arrests.

This episode showed us the true relationship dynamics of each character pairing in Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It also showed us how deep the relationship between the 99 squads is – that they are much more than co-workers stuck with each other.

Season 5, Episode 10: “Game Night”

Game Night started with Rosa coming out to the 99th precinct as bisexual. She then informed Jake that she still has not told her parents about her sexuality. Rosa then dragged Jake into an awkward family dinner where she attempted to come out to her parents, which did not go successfully. Rosa also invited him to her family’s game night, which also ended badly.

Meanwhile, the other 99 detectives in the precinct struggled to get their internet connection back from a recently-moved cyber unit. After multiple failed attempts, they decided to seek the help of Gina, who, of course, succeeded in intimidating the newcomers.

This episode was special because it featured a lot of things. First, it gave us a glimpse of the real-life experience and struggle of Stephanie Beatriz (Rosa) when she first came out as bisexual to her loved ones. Second, it finally highlighted the importance of Rosa and Gina’s characters to the show. And lastly, it showed a perfect ending scene where Jake and the squad crashed into Rosa’s apartment for their own game night.

Season 5, Episode 20: “Show Me Going”

Show Me Going opened with Jake and Charles telling the squad how they are joining an important task force. However, when things went south, Jake and Charles returned to the 99th precinct, where they heard about a shooting situation. Being a critical situation, all in-patrol units were advised to respond, including Rosa. We then witnessed the squad battling their anxiety and concern amidst the chaos involving the shooting incident and Rosa’s safety.

Show Me Going is an enlightening episode that shows us the danger involved in the law-enforcement industry. Aside from that, it is also a heartwarming episode; seeing how the squad cares deeply for Rosa and one another made us wish to find our own 99 squads.

The eight seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine contain a lot of great and precious episodes that perfectly balance touching and comedic elements. So, consider this a sign to dive back into the 99th precinct and rewatch the squad’s greatest moments.
