I fear the rain when it comes
Fear is something I hate to acknowledge, but it exists. Even more so when the rain is coming. While writing this, I was left open-mouthed; a notification just popped out, telling me about today’s weather forecast. Recalling, it was around May when PAG-ASA announced that the Philippines’ rainy season had already begun. It is foreseeable; still, I fear the rain when it comes. Stay still as I share with you some of the reasons why. You can relate, perhaps, with the same sentiments.
I fear the rain as it indicates sadness
I am not sad, nor do I want to feel sad right at this moment. However, the strange feeling of disenchantment kicks in every time it rains. It is as if you want to disconnect and never hear anything from the world. No, no reason at all. But when this happens, I try to divert my attention by listening to my favorite albums. If this does not work, then it is nap time that wins.
Rainy days could mean danger
These past few months, the weather has been nothing but widespread rain. Many of the news reports that aired already told us to expect that La Niña would not end sooner. Hence, these rainfall conditions are about to remain for a couple of days or months. Even our experts said we should prepare for any emergency situation, which I fear the most. With this kind of weather, floods, landslides, and other natural disasters are then anticipated.
As it rains, I fear for everyone’s safety as well. While it is true that all these are inevitable, my thoughts are with the people who cannot find comfort because of the situation. These include those whose houses and properties were wrecked by the series of storms, those who just left their workplaces and are currently stuck in traffic, wanting to go home. Or even those who merely wish for nicer weather to keep us safe and away from any cues of danger.
During this rainy season, some may find themselves in a deep solace; others in great distress. Like any other thing, this is just one of the many aspects we cannot simply restrain. In whatever perspective it is, we have our minds and hearts set on everyone’s welfare at these trying times.
