Ranking K-Pop idols’ collaboration with international artists this 2020
MAX – Blueberry Eyes (feat. SUGA of BTS)
Premiered last September 16, 2020, these two released this great song with a cute music video. American singer-songwriter Max and his pregnant wife Emily Schneider showed their passionate love on the music video. The song also featured BTS’ Suga, spewing Korean lyrics. The cool thing part of this collaboration was Max and Emily learned and memorized Suga’s part and dubbed it. On Max’s TikTok account, the couple posted the video with its caption,
“We learned Yoongi’s entire Korean rap for the Blueberry Eyes (Feat. SUGA OF BTS) video.”
BLACKPINK – ‘Ice Cream (with Selena Gomez)’
Ten months ago, this iconic collaboration happened between Korean girl group BLACKPINK and American singer-songwriter Selena Gomez. After its release, many people had this as last song syndrome. It has a colorful music video set up that lightens one’s mood. Despite the pandemic, Blackpink and Selena managed to create this cheerful song.
PinkSweat$ – 17 (feat. Joshua and DK of SEVENTEEN)
It remains a calming and comforting piece that makes your heart flatter by American singer PinkSweat$ featuring Joshua and Dokyeom from SEVENTEEN.
“We’ll be dancing the same groove
When we are ninety-two
The same as seventeen”
Isn’t it sweet? It’s like telling someone that you will love them as to how they love you when you were young until you both get old. This may also serve as a message to the Korean boy group SEVENTEEN. Making a promise that they will dance, and they will be like the group’s strong bond until they reach their old age. It is a calming and comforting piece that makes your heart flatter by American singer PinkSweat$ featuring Joshua and Dokyeom from SEVENTEEN.
Dua Lipa – Physical (feat. Hwa Sa)
Perfect voices. Listening to the song will make you focus on the vocals of the singer English singer and songwriter Dua Lipa and Hwa Sa from the Korean girl group MAMAMOO. The song has a subtle and haunting melody but will make one groove while it plays. But behind its bouncy beat, it has a romantic and wild message about an intimate relationship.
SHAUN, Advanced – My Bad (feat. Julie Bergan)
South Korean singer Shaun and Korean progressive house duo ADVANCED collaborated with Norwegian singer and songwriter Julie Bergan with the song My Bad. This new cool remix song had added more emotions to the songs. The lyrics hit so differently that will make me happy but sad at the same time. This is about remembering all the good things with your past love one. However, it leads to regrets when everything has gone wrong.
Lauv – Who (feat. BTS)
American singer-songwriter and record producer Lauv released Who on March 6, 2020, featuring Jungkook and Jimin of BTS. Both singers’ vocals complimented the song. Considering that JK and Jimin are not that fluent in English, this collaboration proved that they are good singers. Being able to deliver the song perfectly. Not to mention the perfect harmonization with Lauv.
BLACKPINK –Bet You Wanna ft. Cardi B
BLACKPINK and American rapper Cardi B got chemistry in this song. Cardi B looked like the 5th member with rapper position, and the other took the position of the vocal. As expected of Rosé, this song really emphasized her high notes. Listening to this song revealed that even the rappers in BLACKPINK can really sing. A good choice sound when traveling. It can add flavor to the views on your road trips. A perfect mood booster.
Oh My Girl (오마이걸) & Keanu Silva – Rocket Ride (feat. Mougleta)
Undeniably great song from Korean girl group Oh My Girl, German house music producer and DJ Keanu Silva together with Canadian singer Mougleta. Fans were amazed how the girl group used their lower voice that makes the song better. Adding Mougleta’s vocal, that suits the group voices. Listening to this song will make your feet keep stamping to the beat, a cool song it is.
Rich Brian & eaJ of DAY6 – LOVE IN MY POCKET
Who can resist this funny and interesting remix song from Indonesian rapper Rich Brian and Jae from the Korean boy group DAY6? The song sounded like an 80’s bubbly and cheerful genre that makes it more fun to listen to. The music video makes it more memorable as it let fans download the video and edit it. The green screen made the edited video looks more real. Except for the unique song, the fan enjoyed the extra fun event or video editing.
Lady Gaga, BLACKPINK – Sour Candy
Another great song collaboration from BLACKPINK. And now with American singer-songwriter Lady Gaga entitled Sour Candy. Sadly the song only last for 2 minutes and 38 seconds. Too bad for good music. It also has an interesting rhythm, great for fashion runways. Fans are looking forward to another collaboration with a piece of even longer music to enjoy.
We all have different tastes in music. As long as it makes you happy. Music can be even a great way of communication. Even these two different cultures have united. How perfect it when the East met the West! Looking forward to more collaborations in the future.
