SB19 and Ben&Ben collaborate on a beautiful song about parental love.

SB19 outs the song MAPA as an inspirational ballad last May 2021 to recognize the sacrifice of every loving and hardworking parent out there. The song release is pretty timely as we also recently celebrated Mother’s Day and Father’s Day to honor our moms and dads.

According to Sony Music’s General Manager Roslyn Pineda, the P-pop boy group had come up with the band version of “MAPA”. Fortunately, Ben&Ben agreed instantly to this and maybe this is no longer a surprise. They even posted captions on social media ‘Ma, may ___ na kami’ to show tribute to their parents in public.

About the collaboration, Ben&Ben share that they have a really nice time working with SB19. They were able to relay stories and experiences with each other, bringing them closer. “Also, during the shoot of our video, we were encouraging each other to gain confidence and just enjoy the performance.”

SB19 granted the Folk-pop artists to re-arrange the material with the condition that it stays faithful to the creative vision of both groups. This version of “MAPA” boasts of a sweet combination of jazz and orchestra and captivating harmonies. It was able to highlight the message of parental love and gratitude towards it.

The difference between this new version from the original

Also, Ben&Ben explained that all of the band members were creatively responsible for their individual parts. However, Pat and Poch conceptualized the whole arrangement of this version. The band noted, “Arrangement-wise, we wanted to make it distinct from the original, adding fun rhythms and grand sections. We felt that doing this added weight, and served to support the powerful vocal performance of both acts.”

Meanwhile, SB19’s Pablo added that the original version is more mellow whereas this take gives it a rich, well-rounded, and happy feeling. He said that it’s put together in such a way that it makes listeners feel more uplifted when they hear the song.”

We totally agree with Pablo’s opinion on that one. This version of MAPA is not just a pleasant song for sound tripping. It inspires us to show our love to our parents every single day, even without an occasion. Moreover, we love how the upbeat melody did not erase the sincerity of the lyrics.
