5 Unanswered Questions Fans Have After Watching The First Season of Bridgerton
The first season of Bridgerton circulated around the events that unfold in the first book, The Duke and I. This chronicled around the eldest daughter Daphne’s efforts to secure a love match during London’s social season, a time when eligible young ladies set about the serious task of becoming betrothed. The second season would probably circulate around the second book, The Viscount Who Loved Me, which would introduce a whole new set of characters.
What happens now that Lady Whistledown’s identity has been revealed?
Eloise’s unsystematic sleuthing skills lead her to believe that modiste Geneviève Delacroix is Lady Whistledown. In the last moments of the season finale, Eloise learns of her mistake. The real Lady Whisteldown, on the other hand, is revealed to the audience to be someone else entirely – Penelope Featherington, an unexpected suspect.
Lady Whistledown would have to work harder to maintain her secret identity since Queen Charlotte has been hunting her down. How did Penelope initially subsidize her endeavor? What is she doing with the money she earns? Will Eloise continue her investigation? What happens when Eloise discovers the truth? If so, will this affect Eloise and Penelope’s relationship?
Will Anthony ever settle down and get married?
Anthony spent the first season pining after opera singer Siena Rosso and he forced himself to accept that romance may not be meant to be. Showing no interest in any of the young ladies his mother throws his path, he focuses on his familial obligation dictates that he marry and carry on the family name. With Daphne happily married, Colin on a neverending holiday abroad, and Benedict enjoying the freedom and fun afforded to a second son, Anthony sets to focus on securing a bride.
The second season would probably circulate around the second book, The Viscount Who Loved Me. After reading an excerpt, it would introduce his chosen wife… and well, her older sister Kate Sheffield – the most meddlesome woman ever to grace a London ballroom. She doesn’t want her sister to get married to the rakish Viscount. Her spirited scheming drives Anthony mad with her determination to stop the betrothal. Of course, the fact that he has increasingly erotic dreams centering around her doesn’t help.
Is there hope for Penelope and Colin?
Penelope went to any lengths to protect Colin and ensure his happiness. She revealed Marina’s pregnancy, saving him untold misery. She took her family down in the process, ruining their reputation and standing in good society. Penelope also inadvertently became responsible for Marina’s abortion attempt. So, is there still a chance that these two could end up together? Those familiar with the novels, or even visited Julia Quinn’s website, already know the answer.
Is it truly goodbye for Marina Thompson?
Despite Marina’s attempt to trap Colin into marriage, it’s difficult not to sympathize with the mother-to-be. Her last chance at happiness appears to have died along with the father of her child. She’s left with no alternative but to marry his brother, Phillip Crane. The thing is… he could be the same Phillip that is involved in the series’ fifth book (Eloise’s love story) To Sir Phillip, With Love. Of course, this would throw a wrench into many of the character’s lives, but where does Marina go from here? How or why would she cross paths with any of them in the future? Will Eloise be the hindrance between Marina and Phillip?
What will happen to the Featheringtons?
After rigging a boxing match to his advantage, Lord Featherington runs afoul of what can best be described as Victorian bookies. This led to his death and his family penniless. All they have left is the roof over their heads and their personal possessions, which now belong to a mystery heir. How will the Featheringtons get back up from such a low standing? Will Penelope abandon her mother and sisters? Or, will she stand with them? Will she use her considerable influence as Lady Whistledown in their favor?
