Elijah Payumo Emerges as a Rising Face in Philippine Modeling
At first glance, Elijah Payumo seems to live in two completely different worlds. One day, he is confidently walking runways and appearing in campaigns for brands like Straightforward and Gatsby. Next, he is buried in medical books, preparing for one of the biggest milestones of his life.

For the 28-year-old from Quezon City, these worlds do not compete with one another. Instead, they continue to shape him into a more disciplined well-rounded individual. As his presence in the fashion industry steadily grows, Elijah is proving that it is possible to pursue both medicine and modeling with the same level of commitment and purpose.
Making His Mark in the Fashion Industry
Although Elijah officially entered modeling in 2022, his journey began years earlier when he was first scouted during college. At the time, he was not ready to step into the spotlight, choosing instead to focus on his studies while building confidence in himself.

Everything changed after graduating from college, when another opportunity to model came his way. With time before entering medical school, he decided to take the leap.
The decision quickly opened new doors. Since then, Elijah has worked with respected fashion and grooming brands while gaining experience in editorial shoots and runway shows. As one of the industry’s promising new faces, he continues to learn from photographers, stylists, makeup artists, and fellow models, using every project as an opportunity to grow.

“The journey has been amazing so far. There is always so much to learn. Being able to work with other people in the industry has been helpful because they always give great advice on how to better present myself and become better as I engage in more projects,” he shared.
With every campaign and runway appearance, Elijah continues to build a reputation not only for his look but also for his professionalism, humility, and willingness to learn.
Balancing Passion and Purpose
While his modeling career continues to gain momentum, Elijah remains equally dedicated to medicine. For him, succeeding in both fields comes down to one principle: preparation.
Medical school demands discipline, organization, and consistency, while modeling requires adaptability, confidence, and understanding the vision behind every project. Rather than seeing these careers as opposites, Elijah believes they complement each other.

“Knowing that I have a shoot on a weekend, I study in advance for the upcoming quizzes and contribute to my reports as early as possible to avoid cramming. Keeping a checklist of all the requirements per subject helps tremendously in preparing for the week.”
The same mindset also carries over to modeling.
“A similarity that I have noticed between the two is that preparation is vital. For modeling, I try to see what the brand wants from me and how they usually want their products to stand out. As for medical school, you can never come to class unprepared.”
His ability to stay organized has allowed him to embrace opportunities in fashion while remaining focused on becoming a future physician.
Confidence Beyond the Camera
Perhaps the greatest lesson Elijah has gained from modeling is confidence—something that has positively influenced his journey in medicine.
Standing in front of the camera, walking the runway, and collaborating with creative teams have helped him become more comfortable expressing himself. In return, those experiences have made him more composed when presenting reports, speaking before classmates, and handling the pressures of medical school.

“The modeling world has taught me to be a lot more confident. It has allowed me to show who I am outside of class and leave my comfort zone. Medical school, on the other hand, has taught me to stay composed, accept mistakes, and learn from them so I can become a better doctor someday.”
For Elijah, success is not about choosing one dream over another. It is about growing through every opportunity that comes his way. As he continues building his name in Philippine modeling while pursuing a career in medicine, he is showing that passion, discipline, and purpose can exist side by side. Whether wearing designer pieces on the runway or a white coat in the hospital, Elijah Payumo is creating a future defined not by a single title, but by excellence in everything he chooses to pursue.
