5 Things Potterheads Want To See In A Live-Action Harry Potter Movie

Harry Potter has always been one of the biggest franchises to ever exist in cinema history. It has given children and adults alike a magical world to escape from reality. As a Potterhead myself, I have religiously read the books, watched the movies, and kept myself updated with all things related to Harry Potter. When I found out rumors of a new movie, I immediately thought of the possible stories that it would circulate around.

5 Things Potterheads Want To See In A Live-Action Harry Potter Movie

Founders of Hogwarts

Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin remain as the four founders of Hogwarts: School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. We can learn about them through articles on WizardingWorld.com. However, production companies could make a movie about them, about how they became the founders, and how they created the school. This could include how the four of them decided to take students’ valued traits as a way to accept them in the school. Of course, this should ask the question: Why a Sorting Hat?

This could also include how Slytherin created his Chamber of Secrets and how the rivalry between him and Gryffindor started. Aside from the rivalry, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw’s reaction to this would be an interesting sight to see. We shouldn’t forget about the story of Ravenclaw’s daughter, Helena, and how the Bloody Baron murdered her. Relating to that, a movie circulating around the founders should also give us a peek at the trinkets that Voldemort used as Horcruxes and the thing that destroys them: Slytherin’s locket, Hufflepuff’s cup, Ravenclaw’s diadem, and Gryffindor’s sword.

Voldemort

Although we know bits and pieces of Voldemort’s life, it would be refreshing to see his life as a whole in a movie. This should show his lineage as a true heir of Slytherin. Of course, this would include how he came together as Merope Gaunt (his pureblooded mother, a direct descendant of Salazar Slytherin, and a Parselmouth) developed an obsessive love for Tom Riddle, a handsome and wealthy Muggle. This would also show how she bewitched and married Tom, getting pregnant. However, after he was liberated from the effects of her magic, he fled.

Merope ended up alone in London and died at Wool’s Orphanage where her son, Tom Marvolo Riddle, grew up. As he grows up, he realizes his talent in magic and he later gets a visit from Professor Dumbledore himself. Then, he would have a seven-year education which would include murdering Myrtle, framing Hagrid for a crime he didn’t commit, and learning about Horcruxes from Professor Slughorn. Thus, beginning his journey as Voldemort, the most dangerous Dark Wizard of all time.

The Marauders Era

Probably the most complex one in this list, The Marauders Era includes a lot of things that one movie wouldn’t be enough. This should show how James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew met, became friends, and graduated from Hogwarts. Aside from their friendship, it should also show how they created the Marauders’ Map and how they executed their pranks. Of course, a Marauders Era movie wouldn’t be complete without Lily Evans herself (and, her “friendship” with Severus Snape).

Setting their schooling years aside, this could also show many things: James and Lily falling in love. Sirius running away from home and James accepting him in his. The Marauders becoming Animagi to be there for Remus whenever he turns into a werewolf during the full moon. The Marauders finding of the Wizarding War and joining the Order of Phoenix. Sirius and Remus doubting each other. James and Lily going into hiding. Order of Phoenix members dying because of Peter’s betrayal. James and Lily dying. Peter framing Sirius and faking his death. Aurors sending Sirius to Azkaban. AND. SO. MUCH. MORE.

After the War

Although least suggested out of the five, this prompt raises a lot of questions: What happened to the characters after the War? Did Harry immediately started his training as an Auror? Did Ron do the same? Or did he go with Hermione to finish her last year in Hogwarts? How did Ginny become a player for the Holyhead Harpies? How was Neville as a Herbology professor?

What did Luna do after her last year in Hogwarts? How did George and his family handle the death of his twin brother Fred? Did Draco go to the funeral? Aside from those questions, the actors who played those roles would have to revisit their characters which could probably the biggest upside in this choice.

19 Years Later

Technically, we already have an existing media that circulates around what happened nineteen years later with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. However, a few problems arise with this as a lot of fans don’t count the installment as canon (or something that would happen in the actual universe). They, including me, find that the Boy Who Lived’s attitude towards his son Albus Severus isn’t how Harry Potter would treat his son.

As a boy who grew up neglected and abused, he wouldn’t go around saying that he wished Albus Severus isn’t his son. Although it would show how much the characters grew, it wasn’t a loved installment. Aside from that, this would include the Golden Trio’s children, Draco Malfoy’s only son, Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange’s unlikely offspring, and a whole lot of time travel.
