Design and Build
The HONOR X6b has three magnificent colorways: Midnight Black, Starry Purple, and Forest Green. The unit we tested out sports the Starry Purple color sports a metallic pink and gold shift whenever you tilt it. I love the look and feel of the phone given that it only weighs 192g.
On its sides, you can find the volume rocker and the power button that also acts as a fingerprint sensor.
Rated with an SGS 5-Star Drop Resistance, the HONOR X6b proves it’s built to last and capable of withstanding drops for up to 1.5m. Aside from a buffer and anti-drop architecture, the phone also has collision reinforcement on all four sides to support the phone when it drops.
Display
The HONOR X6b boasts a 6.56” TFT-LCD display that can reach a 90Hz refresh rate. With a screen-to-body ratio of 89.47%, its display offers a decent viewing experience for your multimedia consumption.
Furthermore, it has a 780nits high-brightness display that decently delivers a clear view of the screen under the sun. It’s not the brightest of displays, but it’s sufficient for everyday use whenever and wherever you are.
A highlight feature of the HONOR X6b is the Magic Capsule feature found in its display. This feature turns the camera notch into an oval-shaped notification hub. This Magic capsule allows its users to easily view interactive and ongoing notifications like recording, media playback, and timers even outside their respective apps.
While this feature’s likeability varies from person to person, it’s a quality-of-life improvement you can use to elevate your day. For me, I have used and abused this feature especially while cooking and setting timers for errands.
Battery
The HONOR X6b also packs a massive 5200mAh battery capable of giving you 3 days of battery life with standby use. It also has 4 years of anti-aging durability, so you won’t have to change it immediately.
If its battery inevitably runs out of juice, the HONOR X6b supports a 35W HONOR SuperCharge that can revive it rapidly.
Based on our testing, the phone could charge from 0%-20% in just 10 minutes using its super-charging boost mode. Meanwhile, it took the phone just around one and a half hours to charge to 100%.
This allows its users to maximize their phone use and do more. Especially given how fast-paced everything is nowadays, being able to plug in your phone and achieve sufficient battery in minutes takes this to another level.
Processor and Storage
For memory hoarders, the HONOR X6b has up to 6 GB RAM + 256 GB massive storage to keep all your files and applications. You can even utilize the HONOR Ram Turbo feature that gives another 6 GB to your RAM for an overall 12 GB. This makes it so you never run short of RAM to keep your phone’s performance as optimized as possible.
Furthermore, the phone also sports a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset that keeps everything smooth and steady. It may not offer a particular flagship-level performance, but it perfectly balances performance and power efficiency.
The HONOR X6b will not have trouble running most games with great quality like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Asphalt Unite. However, it may have trouble keeping up with more demanding games like Genshin Impact.
Overall, the HONOR X6b provides sufficient power to sustain all your needs from work to moderate gaming.
Camera
For cameras, the HONOR X6b comes with a dual 50MP main + 2MP Depth Camera, and a 5MP Front Camera capable of taking decent images on the go. For its price, the cameras were able to take vibrant photos effortlessly.
Photos taken using the phone show decent detail, especially under great lighting conditions. Under low lighting conditions, you might want to play with the camera a bit to ensure you’re taking clear and clean photos.
Overall Thoughts
For PHP 6,999, the HONOR X6b’s battery life and durability proved to be better than average. It offers decent performance paired with a stylish design without breaking the bank.
