Upcoming web drama “Love from Home” tackles common problems during this pandemic
Every Pinay K-drama fan must have been daydreaming about meeting and falling in love with a tall, handsome Oppa. Well, this local web drama Love from Home is much more than that. It will highlight the rich cultures of Korea and the Philippines. Meanwhile, it also shows how the pandemic affected ordinary people’s lives.
Love from Home, a love story between two people coming from different culture and background
Filipinos can definitely relate to the story of “Love from Home.” This plot is set during the pandemic and it shows the harsh realities of people losing their jobs. Like for example, the leading lady in this series named Jana (Joyselle Cabanlong) is a former flight attendant. She got affected by the massive retrenchment due to the travel restrictions during the pandemic.
To survive these challenges, Jana took a lot of part-time work. She sold her pre-loved clothes online and also became an English tutor. That’s how she met Jay or Lee Ji Yong (Jaewon Kim), her online Korean student. Then from those simple tutorial lessons, love and friendship began to blossom into something more meaningful.
Meet the lead cast of Love from Home
This new web series also showcases a new set of faces and talents. Jaewon Kim is a newbie in the industry so this show is going to be his debut as a professional actor. The 21-year old is already familiar with the camera since he has been acting in commercials as a model. On top of his hectic schedule, he’s continuing his studies at Chung-Ang University in Seoul, South Korea.
Meanwhile, Joyselle Cabanlong was already making her name in the indie films sector. The 23-year old actress gave a great performance in the movie Guerrero. She admits that she’s a big fan of Korean dramas. Her personal favorite is the popular webtoon What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim? and the top actor for her is none other than Park Seo Joon.
Another interesting fact about this web drama is its soundtrack, Smile Again. Filipina actress and singer Kristel Fulgar is the singer of this Korean OST, and she shared in her vlog how excited she was in recording her first Korean track. As an avid fan of K-pop and K-dramas, she learned the language by herself.
