The twins are named Jollibee and McDonald — but they’re not rivals
There is a pair of twins who went viral online because their names were inspired by two of the Philippines’ fast food chains. Mark Lester Cruzet, a netizen congratulated his friends Jollibee and McDonald Pangindian for finishing Senior High School. He shared that the mother of the twins used to be his school paper adviser and he knows exactly the story behind the name of the twins.
Twins’s unique names
“Kwento ng SPA kong si Ma’am Evelyn, napagdesisyonan ng kanyang asawa na Jollibee at Mcdonald ang ipangalan sa kambal para umano maging unique at madaling matandaan ng tao. ‘Kasi si kuya mo (asawa ni Ma’am) ‘yung uniqueness of the name at art of remembering, once na nalaman (‘yung names ng kambal) anjan agad ung natutuwa sila at madali nilang matandaan name nila,’ salaysay ng dati kong adviser,” Mark wrote.
Mark, then, shared how Pangindian family helped him throughout the years, treating them as his second family.
“I am sharing not just the lovable names of this twin but also how lucky to have their family as my second family as well. Mga kapatid na turing ko sa kambal na ito at pangalawang ina sa SPA ko. Minsan, sa kanila na nila ako pinapatulog lalo na noong napalayas ako sa amin. Tinutulungan kapag may problema lalo na financially. I am grateful dahil alam kong bukod sa sarili kong pamilya, may iba pa akong kikilalaning pamilya sa ibang tahanan. I am blessed beyond measure for finding a family away from our home.
“Love ko ‘tong family na ito, dahil sa kanila, bida ang saya.
“Pagbati rin po sa proud mommy, Ma’am Evelyn! Pa-Jollibee .. . at Mcdo naman po kayo! Joke po hihi,” Mark jokingly added.
McDonald’s has something for the twins
Just yesterday, McDonald’s Philippines just gave a little treat to the twins.
“Magkaribal man sa pangalan, nagkakaisa naman sa pangarap! Congratulations to the twins Jollibee and Mcdonald Pangindian for recently finishing senior high school! Pinatunayan niyo na #WeGraduateAsOne. Dahil love namin kayo, may treat kami para sa inyong pamilya! #LoveKoTo,” McDonald’s wrote.
In fact, according to DZMM reporter Zhander Cayayab, they also have a cousin named Shakey.
