Thailand crowns first Grandslam Queen for Miss Universe 2023

This year’s Miss Universe competition is becoming more and more interesting as another groundbreaking candidate enters the fold! Winning the title of Miss Universe Thailand 2023, Anntonia Porsild officially becomes the first major international pageant titleholder to compete at another beauty pageant.

The former Miss Supranational 2019 will now try her luck to win her second crown by vying for Miss Universe 2023 in November.

Thailand crowns first Grandslam Queen for Miss Universe 2023

A 26-year-old Danish-Thai model, Anntonia is also a student, currently taking up Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations. Breaking out in the world of pageantry, she first competed and won the title of Miss Supranational Thailand in 2019.

Eventually being crowned as Miss Supranational 2019, she became the first Thai woman to win the pageant.

After relinquishing her crown, Anntonia has been very vocal in her desire to compete at Miss Universe. Joining Miss Universe Thailand 2023, she represented the province of Nakhon Ratchasima.

With her Miss Supranational win coming as an advantage, there was also added pressure for Anntonia to succeed. Not to mention that she was up against some heavy competition. These includes three-time national repeater Praveenar Singh-Thakral as well as newcomer Kirana Jasmine Chewter.

Beating the odds, Anntonia ultimately won her second national pageant, securing her the opportunity to represent Thailand once again. She will be flying to El Salvador with aim of bringing home the land of smiles its third and long-overdue Miss Universe crown.

Even though there are no official rankings or classification regarding major or minor pageants, Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, and Miss Earth are recognize as the “Big 4” in the industry. Meanwhile, the Big 6 or Grandslam pageants are frequently named by grouping together new beauty pageants like Miss Supranational and Miss Grand International.
