Shamcey Supsup is the National Director of Miss Universe Philippines franchise
A new organization for Miss Universe Philippines was ‘freshly’ made today and it will be headed by no other than our former beauty queen Shamcey Supsup!
Through a Facebook post, Miss Universe Organization (MUO) has announced on Monday that it will no longer be part of Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI), its longtime partner for 50 years. Also, Supsup was assigned to be its national director.
“The Miss Universe Organization is thrilled to announce its partnership with the Miss Universe Philippines Organization – a fresh team that will lead the country towards its continued quest to share the beauty and grace of the Filipina to the rest of the world,” the post read.
Supsup previously competed in Miss Universe 2011 where she was crowned as the third runner-up to Leila Lopes of Angola. She will be joining other familiar names in local pageant industry such as Aces and Queens founder and Empire PH head Jonas Gaffud as Creative Director, and fashion designer Albert Andrada as Design Council Head, among others.
Headed by Stella Araneta, BPCI had led the country’s search for its representative in Miss Universe since 1964 including the five other international contests. MUP also thanked BPCI and the Araneta Group for their “more than 50 years of stewardship of the Miss Universe brand and franchise in the Philippines.”
The news went viral just hours after Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi was proclaimed Miss Universe 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia. On the other hand, PH bet Gazini Ganados ended her Miss Universe in Miss U, finishing as part of the pageant’s top 20.
