Renewable energy powers Shell Mamplasan operations

Shell Mamplasan mobility site is located at South Luzon Expressway, Biñan, Laguna. Shell Energy Philippines (SEPH) powers the location and its operations with renewable energy. A mix of solar, geothermal, and hydro energies powers the station with Shell Recharge charging points.

Renewable energy powers Shell Mamplasan operations

Shell Energy Philippines (SEPH) is a retail electricity supplier under the Shell Group offering competitive and environment-friendly energy solutions to industrial and commercial customers in the Philippines. It offers a whole range of energy sources from full renewable energies to the traditional supply of electricity to meet the changing requirements of its customers.

Lorelie Quiambao-Osial, Country Chair for Shell companies in the Philippines, said,

“The switching to renewable energy at our operations shows our commitment to reducing our own carbon emissions. We continue to work with partners in the decarbonization journey as we transition to a lower carbon economy.”

Shell Mamplasan became the second Shell mobility site to have renewable energy from SEPH. The first one was Shell North Luzon Tollway 1 (NLT1) in Balagtas, Bulacan.

In 2020, Shell began transforming its retail fuel stations into one-stop mobility destinations featuring sustainable solutions. These solutions help reduce energy consumption by approximately 30%, as compared to a traditional site.

Shell companies in the Philippines Country Chair Lorelie Quimbao-Osial, General Manager of Shell Energy Philippines Inc. Bernd Krukenberg, and Pilipinas Shell Vice President and General Manager for Mobility Randy Del Valle activate the switch for Shell Mamplasan to run on renewable electricity with the 3 color pieces: Blue, Green, and Purple representing Water and Air, Nature and Land, and Innovation and Technology, respectively.

Shell’s Net-Zero Emissions Target

Shell’s operating plan, outlook, and budgets are forecasted for a ten-year period and are updated every year. They reflect the current economic environment and what we can reasonably expect to see over the next ten years. Accordingly, they reflect our Scope 1, Scope 2 and Net Carbon Footprint (NCF) targets over the next ten years. However, Shell’s operating plans cannot reflect our 2050 net-zero emissions target and 2035 NCF target, as these targets are currently outside our planning period. In the future, as society moves towards net-zero emissions, we expect Shell’s operating plans to reflect this movement.
