On July 10, Kyxz Mendiola broke the world record for the farthest hoverboard flight after flying 2,894 meters. They have done the attempt over the beach at Subic Bay, Zambales, Philippines. Farther than the current record of 2,252.4 meters. Moreover, Star 8 Green Technology Corporation created the battery-powered hoverboard.
Mendiola told GMA News.
Sa flight data namin, we actually got 2.89, wow, kilometers. So more than what we were expecting. Our goal was only 2.5 kilometers.
He also hopes to do it only one time and break the current world record. Then, he mentioned that they will submit the record to Guinness World Record.
Franky Zapata of France holds the current world record for the farthest hoverboard flight, which he set in April 2016. Zapata also utilized a Flyboard Air that was propelled by a jet engine. In addition, Mendiola also beat Catalin Alexandru Duru‘s record for the farthest hoverboard flight, which he set in May 2015. Duru also used a propeller-based hoverboard that flew 275 meters and earned him a Guinness World Records title for the farthest hoverboard flight.
Mendiola innovates Electric Manned Aerial Vehicle (EMAV)
Mendiola is the inventor of the Philippines’ first-ever flying electric car. He teamed up with Star 8 in 2019 to improve his flying e-car idea using Star 8’s cutting-edge green technology. In the present, he and Star 8 have also continued to enhance the Electric Manned Aerial Vehicle (EMAV), the Philippines’ first-ever flying e-car.
According to Raffy Tima’s video on Youtube, the flight was four years in the making. Mendiola revealed his prototype in 2017. Furthermore, it depended solely on the ground effect to move around, making navigation difficult. In 2021, the hoverboard successfully lifts off the ground with a few major upgrades like as larger propellers and batteries.
As of this writing, Guinness World Records has not officially confirmed whether Kyxz has broken the record.
