Singer Lizzo just debuted her own shapewear brand called Yitty on social media, as part of her promotion of “self-love” and “radical inner confidence.”
The brand, in partnership with Fabletics, will offer bras, leggings, shorts and more. They will cater to sizes ranging 6X to XS. Their products can be worn as clothes or undergarments.
Yitty, also her childhood nickname, is set to launch three different lines: “Nearly Naked,” which focuses on seamless garments; “Mesh Me,” a collection of outerwear mesh styles; and “Major Label,” which centers on everyday casual pieces.
The Grammy-winner is Hollywood’s image of body positivity and acceptance. To counteract the emergence of “sad and restrictive” shapewear, Lizzo developed a brand that is “inclusive.”
“Instead of thinking about size in this linear way, we’re thinking about it on a spectrum where everyone is included. Everyone’s size is just their size,” she said.
Lizzo also aims to make Yitty a stepping stone for women towards accepting their bodies.
“I decided to take on the challenge of allowing women to feel unapologetically good about themselves again,” she expressed.
