Since the start of the pandemic, because of the COVID-19 virus, hate crimes against Asian-Americans or Asians, in general, have risen. It is for being blamed as the origin of the virus. We, as a whole, have been generalized. Shocking news here and there has been reported.

An elderly Thai immigrant dies after being shoved to the ground. A Filipino-American is slashed in the face with a box cutter. A Chinese woman is slapped and then set on fire.

Because of this, artists and celebrities alike have spoken about it. One of them is Jessica Sanchez.

Sanchez was born to a Mexican-American father and Filipina mother, who originally hailed from Bataan province. She was born and raised in San Diego, California. In 2012, Sanchez made waves in the Philippines for her remarkable performances during the 11th season of “American Idol”. She finished as runner-up. Sanchez was only the fifth contestant of the hit American talent search who has Filipino roots to make the Top 12.

Since then, Sanchez has gone on to appear in various TV and live shows and has done concerts alongside renowned artists like Andrea Bocelli and many others.

In addition to the new song, she will also be starring in a feature film set in Los Angeles and the Philippines. They will start their filming on July 1st, 2021. In it, she will portray a Filipina nurse in a COVID-19 pandemic who is struggling with anxiety. Thus, she channels her emotions and decides to sing to patients to help them heal.

The film is both written and directed by Chris Soriano. He will also be releasing “Zeus”—a film about an Asian American boxer who faces hate crimes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sanchez will debut the song and music video on April 30. Their goal is to promote unity for those affected by racism and hate crimes. Cuban will be part of its music video along with Patrick Starrr, Liane V, Black Eyed Peas’ Apl.de.ap, and many others.
