Jake Cuenca Arrested

Statement of the Director of the Eastern Police District

On Sunday, on Dobol B TV, Director Police Brigadier General Matthew Bacay of Eastern Police District (EPD) released a statement. According to him, Jake’s car passed by and bumped the police vehicle at around 9 pm.

He said the SUV did not stop and so they chased it. They reached the area near Shaw Boulevard, Pasig City. When confronted, the driver was identified as Jake Cuenca.

Bacay said Jake is undergoing medical examination at the time of the radio interview.

The Mandaluyong Police will file a complaint of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property against the actor. Inquest proceedings will be held on Sunday.

However, Bacay added that nothing illegal was found inside the actor’s car.

According to a report of Rod Vega on Dobol B TV, the Scene of the Crime Operation team will process it. The SUV is now in the custody of the police.

Grab driver got shot by a stray bullet

Another concerning this is that the police official said a stray bullet fired during the chase hit a Grab driver.

“In the course of the chase nila, ‘yung mga personnel natin had to disable ‘yung sasakyan, pinaputukan ‘yung gulong. May tinamaan na Grab driver.”

(In the course of their chase, our personnel had to disable the vehicle so they had to shoot the tire of the car. A Grab driver got shot by a stray bullet.)

The injured driver was brought to a hospital for treatment and is now in stable condition.

“Very unfortunate ‘yung incident. Siguro ‘yung mga personnel natin mataas pa ‘yung adrenalin because ongoing ‘yung operation natin, nakahuli ng marijuana doon sa Mandaluyong. And then this is a very unfortunate incident. Walang may gusto nito.”

How EPD is treating the actor

According to Vega’s report, he gave an assurance that the investigation into the incident involving Jake will be fair.

It also needs to be determined who fired shots and whether the standard operating procedure was followed. That’s why the police personnel involved in the incident are also undergoing investigation.

Early Sunday, Jake’s father went to the Mandaluyong Police station. According to him, the actor was treated like a criminal as he was forced to drop to the ground and was handcuffed.

The EPD meanwhile said that is the normal procedure. They also said that Jake’s vehicle is heavily tinted and the police were just being cautious.

Jake’s father said the actor did not intentionally want the police to chase him. Rather, the actor became fearful and drove the vehicle away for panicking. Police then said it is just normal for them to chase a vehicle if it did not stop.
