There is huge buzz on social media about Chris Evans playing Captain America once again. The actor is reportedly in talks to make a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain America, bringing the character back from his supposed retirement in Avengers: Endgame.
According to a report by Deadline last January 14, Evans has been in talks to “return as Steve Rogers aka Captain America in at least one Marvel property, with the door open for a second film.”
The report also mentioned that “it’s unlikely to be a new ‘Captain America’ installment and more likely to be like what Robert Downey Jr. did after Iron Man 3, appearing in such films as ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.”
Lots of Marvel fans were happy to hear the news, but some fans think the actor shut down the rumors last January 15 with a tweet saying “News to me,” followed by a shrugging emoji.
News to me🤷🏻♂️

As of now, Marvel had no comment for the outlet, nor a confirmation on how Captain America would return — whether it would be as his younger self or as the older version we last see in Avengers: Endgame, in which a retired Cap passes the shield to Anthony Mackie’s Falcon (subsequently leading the way to the upcoming Disney+ series Falcon and the Winter Soldier).
Chris Evans last appeared as Captain America in “Avengers: Endgame” after the heroes saved the world after the mad titan Thanos.
