After watching their first few movies, it has always left me with the impression that Blumhouse Productions‘ other films (including this one) are of high quality. Moreover, I’ve eagerly awaited each new chapter of this movie since the release of the first film due to its exceptional storytelling.

The interconnectedness of events, the clever plot twists, and the well-crafted characters from one chapter to the next makes this movie one of the finest horror films I’ve ever seen.

Additionally, I’ve penned this article to highlight what sets these films apart. Among many horror films, all ‘Insidious’ chapters are a must-watch.

Insidious (2010)

This is the first chapter of the movie, and it starts off by introducing the Lambert family. They’re a typical happy family who recently moved into a new house, but their happiness takes a turn when their son, Dalton (Ty Simpkins), has an accident falling from a ladder.

Moreover, they initially believed it was a typical accident leading to his coma, but it turned out to be more than just that.

Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013)

Get ready for the plot twists and interconnected narrative, as this serves as the prequel to the first chapter! This movie’s timeframe centers around the story of Dalton’s father, Josh (Patrick Wilson). Moreover, this is where you’ll uncover the connection explaining the events from the first chapter— pretty fascinating, I may say.

Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015)

My initial viewing introduced me to entirely unfamiliar characters, prompting me to wonder about the relevance of this chapter to the preceding ones. Upon further watching, I discovered that this was Elise‘s (Lin Shaye) story, unveiling her remarkable psychic abilities.

As we all know, she’s the one who helped Josh‘s family from the entities that haunted his family. In this additional prequel, the movie delves into the backstory of this psychic. Furthermore, it sheds some light on how she also helped a teenage girl from the past who was being targeted by malignant forces.

Insidious: The Last Key (2018)

Of course, understanding the past is crucial to comprehending the present. The film primarily delves into Dr. Elise’s narrative as a parapsychologist. This prequel unveils her more fearsome and personal haunting encounters while also providing more context into her unsettling childhood.

Furthermore, I was reintroduced to characters from previous films, and this movie sheds light on how she met her team of psychics. One of whom humorously referred to their team as ‘sidekicks,’ which sounded like ‘psychics’ in the first movie.

Insidious: The Red Door (2023)

It wasn’t the last key, after all. Moreover, the movie shifts to the present where it centers on uncovering Dalton’s forgotten memories and once again using his hereditary gift.

The story commences with Dalton heading off to college, where his dormant abilities resurface. This sequel also introduces Josh’s father, Ben (David Call). Three generations – Ben, Josh, and Dalton – share the same abilities that connect them to another dimension, aptly termed ‘The Further‘ by Elise.
