GRAMMYs awards Video Game Soundtrack

The gaming world is getting more appreciation. GRAMMY Awards will give recognition for best video game soundtrack on 2023.

As part of the ever-evolving music industry, Recording Academy announced five new categories for the 65th GRAMMY Awards. This includes “Best Score Soundtrack For Video Games And Other Interactive Media.”

“Recognizes excellence in score soundtrack albums comprised predominately of original scores and created specifically for, or as a companion to, a current video game or other interactive media released within the qualification period.” – GRAMMY’s description for the award.

Video Games are eligible for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media but doesn’t receive much recognition. Film and Television music dominates this category. The last time video games were recognized for the award was back in 2013. Composer Austin Wintory received nomination for the indie-adventure game “Journey.”

“We’re so excited to honor these diverse communities of music creators through the newly established awards and amendments, and to continue cultivating an environment that inspires change, progress, and collaboration,” Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said.

GRAMMYs also includes recognitions for, Songwriter Of The Year (Non-Classical), Alternative Music Performance, Americana Performance, and Spoken Word Poetry Album.
