Former Cavite Instructor makes history as First Filipino Language Instructor in Harvard

Former educator from Cavite makes history as the First-ever Instructor for Filipino language course in Harvard.

Orsal started teaching Filipino language classes. This is truly a milestone for herself, for the Filipino culture and language and for the country.

Lady Aileen Orsal as First- Ever Instructor

Harvard Asia Center and Department of South Asian Studies announced the hiring of Filipino instructor as Preceptor in Filipino Language. Orsal is the one that makes a historic move.

Furthermore, it is first time that Filipino language will be taught in Harvard’s nearly four-hundred-year history.

We are extremely happy to welcome Lady Aileen Orsal to the Harvard community,” said James Robson, Victor and William Fung Director at Harvard University Asia Center in the Harvard Gazette report.

“We look forward to working with her to develop, highlight, and showcase the richness and variety of the history and cultures of the Philippines through events on the Harvard campus.”, they’ve added.

About the First Filipino Harvard Educator

Orsal graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication at Cavite State University-  Indang Main Campus, Philippine in 2012.

Also, she got her masteral in Philippine Studies in 2017.

In 2018, she started teaching Filipino language as a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant at Center for Southeast Asian Studies . She also taught Filipino at her alma mater Cavite State University.

In addition, she has credited with notable published researched on the coffee culture of the Philippines. This is truly have an impressive credentials

This milestone of her is not only an achievement but also an inspiration. It is for other aspiring teachers to work hard and be passionate in teaching the richness of Filipino language and culture.
