Here are some Filipino Mythological Creatures You can dress up as this Halloween Season:

Filipino Mythological Gods

Before the arrival of Christianity in the country, the Philippines already had rich mythology of its own. This mythology featured various characters involving gods and goddesses that ancient Filipinos worshipped back in the day. Bathala, Hanan, Mayari, Tala, Libulan, and Sidapa are only a few of the vast gods and goddesses in Philippine Mythology.

Usually, they are portrayed wearing traditional native costumes during the pre-colonial period which are reflective of Filipino traditional clothing during this time.

Mangkukulam

The mangkukulam is known as the local counterpart of the witch from Western folklore. Often portrayed as old ladies usually residing in uninhabited areas, they are said to practice the ancient art of witchcraft. This practice is usually associated with black magic, which enables them to cast spells, and do incantations that may cause harm to a person.

Typically, when depicting mangkukulams, Filipinos opt for long dark-colored robes matched with long white hair. Meanwhile, others also include voodoo dolls and pins to their whole setup. And to put it further, people even add props like setting up lit candles and transparent jars with herbs to match the ensemble.

White Lady

Finally, for our last suggestion, we are featuring the classic Filipino supernatural character, the White Lady. Although the White Lady is a well-known type of ghost seen in countless stories globally, the figure has become a Filipino favorite when recounting supernatural stories. Usually, White Ladies are associated with females who fall victim to their tragic pasts. As a result, they remain wherever the tragedy had stroke them to haunt the place with their ghost.

Portraying the white lady character for Halloween is among the easiest spooky get-ups to pull off. The classic supernatural character is infamous for wearing flowy and usually long white but dirtied dresses. It usually appears with its long black hair draping over its face. Furthermore, it is often seen either walking barefoot or floating in the air, which adds more creep to the character.
