Can this Filipina win Miss USA 2023?
Last year, R’Bonney Gabriel of Texas made a huge milestone as she becomes the first Filipino-American to win the coveted title of Miss USA 2022. In addition to her, two other Filipinas competed for the crown which was also a breakthrough in the pageant’s history.
Ultimately becoming Miss Universe 2022, R’Bonney has proudly been using her reign to share and promote her Filipino heritage. Truly a humble and inspiring woman, wouldn’t it be phenomenal if another Filipino-American followed in her footsteps?
Aiming for history to repeat itself, another Filipina in the name of Savannah Gankiewicz will be competing at this year’s Miss USA competition.

Will another Filipina win Miss USA 2023?
A 27-year-old professional model and entrepreneur from Wailea, Savannah is born to a Polish-Vietnamese father and a Filipina mother. Along with her exotic looks, she also places a strong emphasis on advocacy work.
Currently serving as the program director for a nonprofit organization called “What Makes You Feel Beautiful”. Here, she imparts empowerment, self-love, self-assurance, and leadership qualities to young women.
In top of that, she has training in youth suicide and bullying prevention from the Mental Health America of Hawaii group, receiving a certification in Youth Mental Health First Aid.
Dipping her toes in Philippine pageantry, Savannah first competed at Mutya ng Pilipinas in 2017 where she won the title of Mutya ng Pilipinas Overseas Filipino Communities. Succeeding fellow Filipina Kiana Yamat, Savannah is the second consecutive Filipina to be sent by Hawaii to Miss USA.
A well-accomplished woman, Savannah is definitely another strong contender for the crown. She will be flying to Reno, Nevada for Miss USA 2023. It will be on September 23, taking place at the Grand Sierra Resort.
